Avid Salutes the 80th annual Academy Award® nominees & winners

Year after year, the people who make the world’s most acclaimed and innovative films rely on solutions from Avid, Digidesign, Sibelius, and Softimage: trusted partners in creative achievement.
Avid is proud to be able to say that every single one of the nominated and award-winning films in the Best Motion Picture, Directing, Film Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Documentary Feature and Original Score categories at this year’s Academy Awards were created using at least one Avid, Digidesign, Sibelius or Softimage product. And nearly two-thirds of these nominees employed workflows consisting of multiple Avid systems.
Avid congratulates all the winners, and nominees of the 80th annual Academy Awards whose work inspires us all.

The release does not say that every film was edited on Media Composer, it says that an Avid product was used on every one of the nominated films - In the past nominated films have also been edited on Lightworks, and if a Spielberg film, on a flatbed.

wow
at least now we know ehere avid's time goes... scraping up useless move trivia for us.
Am I suppose to be able to close a sale because a great script was logged with an Avid product? I'd much rather they spend this time making their products better so that I can make more money with them.

Dude, its obvious that you have some serious emotional baggage with Avid. And thats fine. Not every product on the market is for everyone. But in case you hadn't noticed... this is the Avid forum for this board. There is going to be a little flag waving in here as well as the helpful tech info.

FCP, Vegas, Grass Valley or Premiere all have issues too. No one software package is perfect. And none will ever be as long as things keep changing with technology.

For the many of us who are using our Avids to make money in film and television there are numerous reasons why we choose Avid (overall stability and reliability for starters). Is Avid perfect? No. But as I stated earlier no software company is.

I state this next paragraph as an example of my confidence with the Avid product as far as our production needs are concerned: I have 2 MC Adrenalines (1 PC, 1 Mac) 2 Xpress Pros (2 PCs) and one FCP box (which is rarely used). I have been using Avid products for the last 14 years. For our television series production it is still the best product on the market.

Could there be improvements? Absolutely.

Does Avid need to change some things to get more in line with its competitors? Absolutely no question. And through positive, constructive input we give them our feedback so that the product can continue to improve, evolve and hopefully become even more affordable.

Anyone considering the purchase of an NLE can do their research easily by frequenting product boards, lurking and asking questions, and then, make an informed choice as to what will meet their needs.

Am I suppose to be able to close a sale because a great script was logged with an Avid product?
ANY NLE can finish a project. Its the talent of the people using the tools that will make the final sale on a project.

grinner, Go frequent the NLE category that makes you happy and sing its praises over there.

Your constant negative and unhelpful snide remarks are not appreciated.

So for the sake of peace on this board, quit trolling.

I agree. It would be like me or you going into a FCP forum and trashing Apple saying, "Apple obviously doesn't care about their customers since Avid's media management is far superior."

And as such, this kind of talk is not beneficial here. Most of us know where Avid shines. Most of us know where Avid is lacking. There is an appropriate way to express the latter. "Constructive criticism" is one thing but "bashing" is another.

This is an Avid forum for Avid users and potential Avid users. We're here to help each other with our Avid related issues. Any excessive negativity can be left at the door, thank you kindly.

I'd wanna hear the good, the bad and the fugly, as a buyer.
I am a buyer and I wish I was not looking at an adrenaline right now.
I don't sell any systems for a living. I use them. I answer questions based on my 15 years experience with Avid products.
I'm sorry if some of it is not what you wanna hear.
the truth always hurts.

This has nothing to do with your "truth." We (as in some of the DVXUser Avid forum participants) appreciate your input but not so much your inflammatory delivery. We're not going to try to take away from any of your experiences. So please continue to share them. Politely. :)

Lets keep it friendly. Grinner of your 200 some posts on this forum 78 of them are in this Avid forum. For someone so desperately unhappy with the Avid you certainly spend a lot of time here.

His time spent in Avid forums is understandable when you consider this:

http://leaders.creativecow.net/leaders/hester_grinner/

Obviously Mr. Grinner Hester has plenty of experience with Avid as well as being a Mod over at Creative Cow. I would say his opinions should be valued.

Grinner: You're whining is beyond broken record status. You're venting between here and Creative Cow (who knows where else) with the same old schtick: Avid screwed me, Avid blows, Avid-this, Avid-that, blah, blah, whine, whine, whine, waaahhhh.

You seem to want everyone to know how much you spent on your Adrenaline (5 Figures!) like it's some sort of badge-of-honor. A fallen victim, a proud foot soldier taken down by the evil Avid empire.

Get over it already and go buy Final Cut. There is a forum for you. Actually, there are several. Maybe they'd be more receptive to welcoming a new convert from the 'dark side' of Avid. I care about what you have to say about as much as you care about your own grammar and spelling.
