Thinking about switching from Canon T2i to Panasonic GH1

I have found a deal on the classifieds and I haven't checked if it is hackable.

The reasons first I want to switch is because of how light the GH1 is compared to my T2i. It also has Image Stabilization built into the body so my shots will be a lot steadier. Flip out LCD screen and also works on AVCHD which I like because my Panasonic TM700 also uses that codec.

The things I like about my T2i is the wide range of lenses available as opposed to micro 4/3 system lenses. I also have Magic Lantern installed which bring features I've heard the Panasonic camera already has.

Is there any good reason for me to switch or not to switch? What major differences are there in a modified versus an unmodified GH1?

The GH1 does not have in-body image stabilisation. You need to get Lenses with IS, just as with the T2i. Your native lens choices will be much more limited espescially if you narrow it down to only IS lenses. However you have an almost limitless world of manual lens options available to you.

T2i with ML has much better audio options than the GH1.

The GH1, espescially with the hack, has a much cleaner, sharper image in good light but completely falls apart in lower light.

I switched from the GH1 to the 550D with ML and I'm really happy with my decision. Size/weight wasn't an issue for me though.

Thanks for the infomation John. I'm not sure where I pulled that information now about the GH1. I have decided to stick with the T2i after reading over what you said.
