Since I sold my 100 to get the 100a, I decided to wait a few weeks till a number of retailers had the 100a in stock to save some money. Now I see a grey market units being sold with no warrentee for $2900. (same place sells the US unit for $3400) check froogle.....
They will exchange the camera for 7 days in case there is any initial problem.
So my question is has anyone developed a problem on the 100 that needed repairs from panasonic?
My thinking (and experience with electronics ) is that if it works well right out of the box- it should be fine for some time. I usually even leave electronics on or use them alot within the first few weeks to check for any failure- since that's when they will usually fail.
And since I tend to sell gear so fast anyway- when the next thing hits- I can dump the grey market unit cheap whenever I want. (or whenever JVC comes out with a DVX like HD version of their cam)
So OK- flame away with your thoughts on my being a cheap ass!!! But this may just be the route for me in the very quickly changing world (and would give me some extra cash for a Century .6 wide angle)
(BTW I am setting up a second edit suiteright now and am buying as much stuff as possible used for 1/2 the cost of new- EVERYTHING is disposable these days- maybe not good- just a fact of life in electronics)
