think it will be a DVX100

I'm almost 100% going for the DVX100B. After looking close to the HD debate I don't think it is coming that fast. The cost for me is too high anyway.

I can buy a DBX for some place like Newegg after the rebate for $2800. Something like $1,200 cheaper than the next camera I would like to get.

I can pick up Final Cut Studio through my wifes discount for ,,,$499. I was shocked when i heard that. Sure you can't upgrade it but it's the new one 5.1 so it should last for a few years.

I can pick up a good mic for under $500 and I'm in the game for less than $4,000. With a camera that will be good for DVD's, TV and with a lot of luck a movie.

Plus a read a quote the other day from Rebel Without A Crew, it went something like a this 'all this format talk, just get a camera and start shooting.'

HD would be nice but my computer upgrade etc would really add to my cost. I am low budget!!

I agree with your decision... there's always time to upgrade down the road. Get the DVX and start shooting!

I also agree. The Rode NTG2 has turned out to be a fantastic mic to start out with for only 220$ and with an Octava 012 for $179 you can have both outdoor and indoor mics for less than $500.
They have the 503 bogen tripod head and 525mvb sticks for $500 and a gitzo "Boombie" as my wife calls it and your in the bag. Well maybe a lighting package wouldnt hurt... but just as brandon said, get the camera shoot, shoooooooot!!!!

I don't think anyone see's a DVX100 coming with native 16:9. I guess even if it did it would have AVCHD and cost more.

I know people like Barry say we have probably seen the last standard def camera;s coming out, but even then all the new camera's have standard def on them and probably will for years. So I guess in a way we have not seen the last new SD.

The quality and cost are driving me and what I've seen done with the DVX100. Also just the fact the HD at the low end of production will not be any fun watching my rendering times. I'm not getting any younger!!

So maybe in about 5 years.

The DVX100A has been replaced by the DVX100B in the same way that the DVX100A replaced the original DVX100.

I got my DVX in Singapore for a full 200 bucks less - SG$4100 = US$2616 :D
I find that cameras are alot cheaper in Singapore. Small consolation

Stick with dvx, You'll love it. It will retain its value for quite some time. I'll pre-congratulate you.
