thin setting "removal" in post

Hi,
Trying to get my head around the following:
We plan to shoot the DVX100a (pal) in thin mode for max resolution to go to film.
But from the camera tapes we also want to edit a shorter version of the piece for TV display.
Having shot in thin mode we now subject ourselves to that fine pixel twitter effect. What is therefore the technique for creating the "thick" mode equivalent in post?
Thanks Guys.
Peter.

You can add a touch of vertical blur, or if you letterboxed for anamorphic output, the stretch will take care of it.

If you are editing with Adobe Premiere, use the flicker removel option.

Any suggestions for dealing with this in Final Cut Pro?
We're shooting with anamorphics and so won't be stretching the vertical image.

Unfortunately, I think the blur filter in FCP is fairly basic and doesn't allow you to select horizontal and vertical. Maybe try a tiny bit of vertical wind blur.

Look around for some 3-party software...There are more addons and filters for FCP...I am sure someout there has created something...

Peter.

"Too much too soon" makes a filter named "reduce interlace flicker"

...and it's free !
(i dont remember their web address...)

good luck !

BTW... it is very normal that you see a fine pixel twitter effect, i see it even on Hollywood DVDs seen on a interlace TV. Using "mid" setting won't help either. (same fine pixel twitter)

No! If they shot in THIN that'll be 25P ? - so a vertical blur is way to go isn't it ? If you remove the flicker by using an interlace filter then surely you're chucking away a full field of resolution? Pinnacle LIQUID EDITION has great blurrers ( and fantastic options for slo mo !)
