Thick vs Thin

I will be shooting in 30p with alot of slow to moderate panning.
What setting "thick or thin" would be better suited for this?
Does it even matter?

Re: Thick vs Thin

Generally speaking, it's recommended that you shoot at thick if you are going to be viewing your film on a regular NTSC TV. People have reported line twitter when using thin mode.

I have not experienced this myself but everything I do is for widescreen progressive display so it's not really a problem for me. I have occasionally seen this twitter on an NTSC studio monitor but it's very minimal.

The thick and thin option don't affect pans or tilts as much as they effect thin diagonal lines in what you are shooting, like a telephone wire, a tree branch, a fence, a car grill, things like that.

The best advice I can give you is to experiment and view the finished footage on whatever your medium of choice is.

Exactly.

The only thing I'd add is, if you're shooting Squeeze mode, ALWAYS use THIN. Using THICK with Squeeze Mode is just wasted resolution; Squeeze looks best with THIN.
