Theset - 12:34

Tell me about the freeze effect at the beginning. I'd like to steal that for a feature film :)

It looked really nice too how did you achieve that?

the freeze effect:

ok so basically because the video had no budget and i had no permits it was made a lot harder to do... but its still do able. So the master wide of Martin and the annoying biz man is obviously key: i figured the best way to do this easily is to shoot everything lock down and add slight camera movement in post later...so i shot the master of martin and annoying guy when there was a break in the traffic, then i had them step out, and i shot traffic at a high shutter in order to lessen the blur (i personally felt pausing time wouldnt have much blur) also makes it easiar to roto the image. Then in AE i layed down whatever car's were good and penned them into the shot. It was pretty easy. Same goes for all the other shots with this effect. the biz man moved a bit in some so i had to freeze and roto him seperatly particularly the one shot where martin waves his hand... that is kind of a split screen effect. another thing because your using stills.. you get static grain which is bad b/c it gives away that im just pausing the image.. .so i added grain in ae to match the non frozen shots.

uh thats about all i can think of right now.

Colin, what is your current toolset that you used for this video?

I'm guessing Vegas & AE but are there any additional plugins or third party software that you use to make your videos as clean as they are?

sorry for the late responce i have been busy with new videos... i cut on vegas, matt got me into it and its an amazing prog... and i use mb in vegas, and i also use ae for random effects and such or for trapcode filters.

Hey Colin, nice video there.

Can you tell us more about your way of shooting? I'd like to know how you get all your scenes together. Do you have certain scenes in mind before shooting or do you just go out there, shoot the band from different angles and keep the best ones?

Colin,
Let's exchange names!.

That was awesome dude. I also love the song of the girls.

Do you have any making of it stills?

martin,

its pretty planned out on paper how im going to do certain things, a lot of stuff is thought up on the spot shot wise as you generally tend to see certain things you think would be good to capture. but usually its pretty planned out in my head or on paper.

thanks
