Thermographic Videography

Has anyone here ever shot something through a thermographic camera (specifically with the DVX)? I'd be interested in hearing of any experiences, tips or suggestions.

Thanks.

This is something I'm actually researching right now.

From what I understand, there are two types of Infrared capture:

1. NightVision IR (InfraRed)

(most often as greenish hues)

IR_color.jpg
(sometimes with color, though I think this may be originated with celluloid)

2. Thermal FLIR (Forward Looking InfraRed)

(b&w, where hot is white and black is cool)

I'm trying to record imagery with my HVX200/Brevis(Nikon-mount) that can see outside the visible light band (400-700nm). I'm interested in the latter (primarily the b&w FLIR but also the color IR) technology but cannot find a solution that attaches to my 35mm adapter's Nikon mount like the NightVision IR solution. The only thermal solution seems to be an entire camera that has video output and typically low-rez NTSC. All of these options are also VERY expensive. But renting . . . ?

I realize I could probably create these looks in post-production. However, for personal and aesthetic reasons, I'd like to do it in-camera.

If anyone has any insight, please chime in. Thanks!
