Thermal compound/gel for NEX?

Hi guys,

Did anyone here ever try using thermal compound/gel to keep the NEX cameras cool? I was going to use a small fan with a usb power supply on my NEX5N, so I thought I would be able to do the same with the NEX7...but when the NEX7 arrived I´ve realized their LCD's placement is different and the NEX7 won´t allow sticking a fan under the LCD....so I´m looking for alternatives.

I´ve also found the worlds smallest fans. It´s Sunon's Mighty Mini Fan: http://www.digikey.com/us/en/ph/Sunon/MightyMiniFans.html

But I cannot find it for sale on ebay or here in Brazil :(

A fan for the NEX7 would have to have more or less 2cm (height), 1,5cm (depth), 6cm (width).

thanks in advance

Rafa

Before you go to great lengths with a DIY solution, make sure you're actually tackling the problem... Casual observation with my 5N says the problem is not heat removal from the back of the camera (beneath the screen), but transfer of heat from the sensor/processor to the outer parts of the camera. That is: I've mounted RAM heatsinks below the LCD screen; my camera will shut down because of overheating even while these heatsinks are relatively cool; a minute or so later, heat will start to show up in those heatsinks. In my case, I think adding a fan wouldn't be the best solution, what I need is a more efficient path for the heat to reach the outer parts of the camera.

The way the NEX7's LCD screen folds restrains my options, so I can either go with the thermal gel/compound of a micro fan. I´ve posted a video on a different thread of a guy who placed a battery powered fan close to his NEX5N and it fixed the problem (he gets the heat signal but the camera doesn´t shut down).
