In case your wife ever finds your porn collection in your old basement...

But I seriously doubt that she will ever go down there!

Oops! Striike that. I forgot something... I am using her in my final scene of I.D. which takes place in the basement!!!

Quick, does someone have access to a storage unit??? Lingothree thinks that we men can fit our porn collection in a bucket! :)

Breif note, I have edited 4 minutes of my film together and am VERY HAPPY considering some of my earlier comments. (CC, White Balance, etc.)

I.D. is looking pretty good right now, and if I can just squeeze the next 3 hours of footage (kidding) into the 2 remaining minutes, I'll be sitting pretty.

I will try to post some more BTS and grabs tomorrow.

Dang Tommy, you need to be online earlier in the day. My evenings are ususally filled with spending time with my wife and not on a computer.
 
MAJOR NEWS UPDATE......

Well, yesterday was a very good day. And last night I was able to finally go to bed without playing the movie over and over in my head.

That is because, I was able to watch the movie on my editing screen!!!!

I only have 4 minutes done, but the next 2 min. will fall into place very nicely.

It is just so reassuring to know that my crazy idea is going to work. And that maybe, perhaps you can write, shoot and act in your own movies as well as fill all of the other duties! (Though, I highly do not recommends this!)

I am just very pleased. I honestly thougth 2 days ago that I had bitten off more than I could chew. I still think that my film could benefit in many ways, but at least I feel that I won't be embarrassed of my entry.

I am really liking it. A lot. :love4:

And my wife, who of course "has" to like everything that I do, LOVES the film thus far. She couldn't stop watching it last night.

So, things are looking good. Very excited to get to work today and finish this puppy up!

I'll do my best to post those pics and bts soon..... :) :) :)

Don't worry. Soon you will have watched it so many times that all you can see is the flaws no on else will ever notice, but which you can't fix...That's the point I'm at. :)

Yeah, it's funny. The 3rd time of letting my wife watch it, I pointed out things that she never saw. Then that's ALL she could see when she viewed it again!

I am wondering if I should re-shoot some stuff :eek: or let it ride.

Keep wondering how much work it would take to photoshop some stuff. Is that crazy or do people do it all the time? :huh:
 
I think re-shooting has to do with how much time you have left when working on a deadline, but most importantly, it has to do with how good your project you want to be. OK OK we want it to look as good as possible, but that's exactly what I mean, if you feel that re-shooting will help HUGE and that you really can pull what you have in mind, then go for it (as long as you dont fall way behind schedule - unless you dont care about competing but just getting the best darn job you can).
It's ok to want to do more and be a perfectionist, just as long as you can really be perfect, if you know what I mean. It's easy to learn about pointing out your faults and say 'oh, I could go this way on this scene,and add this thingy right there and do this in post...' but the reality check must come along and you should tell yourself 'can I DO all these things right now, or do I need to read more, buy more and experiment ?'. Working on a project with a deadline doesnt give you always the luxury to experiment and learn as much as you want to. You learn along the way but you just put in good use what you already know. I can't learn how to use After Effects right now, but I'll try to do so when this thing is over so when the next project comes along I'll be like 'okay we'll do this at this scene coz I KNOW how to add that effect in post' and not do wishful thinking...

Ok I hope you understood most of my thoughts, I sometimes get the feeling that I write too much and become difficult to follow....being a gemini is a blessing only for myself...the rest try to keep up with my split personality....

Yeah... more grabs tonight! I have just storyboarded my last scene and am on my way to the basement to shoot it. (hee hee hee... love the basement!) :evil:

Found a good tool for making quick and easy storyboard rectangles... a cassette case! (You know, "cassettes," those little plastic reel-to-reel things that replaced the 8-track. oh! Dating myself!)

Anyway, they have a similiar proportion to 16:9. Very handy.

And thanks for the input about photoshopping. What do you do? Take each frame of a sequence and alter it then import them back into the NLE? I would love to know.

Good words, John.

Yeah, I am a perfectionist which has always been a blessing and a curse. The curse is obvious.... I am always spending WAY TOO MUCH TIME on things. The blessing is what keeps me employed! :)

I have SO MUCH repeat business and word of mouth business because of my work ethics and attention to detail.

Good words, though. I really am looking forward to my next (and 2nd) film project. I can't wait to employ everything that I've learned on this shoot!

The most important thing I've learned and will definitely put in use for my next project is that you can never do enough planning for your project. I promised myself that for the next project I will plan EVERYTHING. And I saw this when we shot some scenes that we had discussed thoroughly and in editing they came out pretty strong, but we had some scenes that were not worked enough so we shot them very quickly and then the footage was quite poor. I also got frustrated by the fact that we were talking about doing things and using stuff that we never used...and that was partly because during shooting we just forgot about them as we were really stressed and trying to cope with lots of setbacks....
Anyway, as I said, planning is A and technique is Z. You cant go from Z to A but you can go from A to Z.....

Depending on what you need to do, NO, I do not use Photoshop, per say, though some people have been known to do that. I use the tools in Vegas and AE. What kind of stuff do you need to fix?
 
Well... it is really one scene that bothers me. (and again, my wife didn't even notice it.)

But, I have this scene that I had to shoot twice. The first time, the scene is perfect except that I have a mini-dv camera and cables sitting on my counter! (This is when I learned that the dvx100b does NOT display 100% of the framing when in squeeze mode.)

The second time I shot it, I had taken my sock off and you can see my feet. Not a biggie except that in the following scene there is a close-up of my socked foot!

So, in the scene w/o socks, my feet are visible for a couple of frames as I run to the sink. Once I'm at the sink, no feet are in the shot.

I have thought about cutting an insert to cover my running to the sink, but I really like how it unviels the scene.

I have thought about enlarging the clip to crop either my feet or the camera on the counter, out. (But I am worried about the rez. factor)

I have thought about photoshopping the camera out of the scene.

I have thought about photoshopping socks on my feet! (bad idea I am sure)

That's where I am with this.

I should either let it go or reshoot, but it was quite a set up. (that's when I stuck my camera and tripod on a ladder.)
