GH4 The YAGH - powering and external recording

So is anyone powering the YAGH via Ptap to XLR? If so, how's it working?

Anyone using the Odyssey 7Q to record 4K? How is that working? Is the monitoring delay still happening in this workflow?

Any other 4K external recorders (available now) to consider?
 
I think that the Ki Pro Quad can record SDI streams up to Cinema 4K. So, one should be able to grab any signal from the YAGH with that recorder.

I believe that the Blackmagic rack-mounted recorder can capture UHD streams (with the Blackmagic hdmi-to-sdi4k adaptor).

For a couple of years, folks have been capuring cDNG 3.2K streams from machine vision cameras, with embedded PC boards via USB3. I would guess that the newer multi-core Haswell embedded boards could boost that capture rate to 4K, with a good SDI video card.

Kit, the Shogun looks good, but I can't wait that long...is it Sept?

h, yeah it seems like the Quad is the only 4K solution...but I had Ki Pro Mini back in the day, and I didn't like the interface. I'm sure it's improved, but it doesn't feel like the solution for me.

What are folks suggesting for prores 422 recording?

Mitch might reply himself but Convergent has been snakebit by a couple of blown deadlines which blew up on the FS700 forum (we are passionate lot). As a result, Mitch and by extension Convergent has been reticent about giving any new deadlines for anything moving forward. While it's frustrating not having deadlines, I would have employed the exact same ban on deadlines to the public if I had to endure some of the slings and arrows that they have had thrown their way.
 
Odyssey7Q 4K compressed video recording is "coming soon". As in, as soon as we can.

The Atomos website states that the Shogun will ship "Q4". We certainly intend to have 4K video recording before then.
 
Mitch, the current state of the GH4 doing a down convert from 4K to HD monitor is completely unusable do to the huge delay time from both the HDMI & SDI outs. I am wondering if once the Odyssey7Q is ready for 4K from the GH4, will there be a noticeable delay on the Odyssey7Q's HD monitor due to 4K to HD conversion?

There won't be any noticeable delay based on what's happening inside the Odyssey7Q to go from 4K to HD. Don't know if there is a delayed output from the YAGH when it converts the HDMI signal to SDI.
