PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25ghz w/2GB RAM--Full Video Production Suite w/DVX100+PanaAna 16:9

AVAILABLE JANUARY 1, 2006

This is a complete, turn-key videography business/indie filmmaker opportunity.

NOTE: I intend to sell this entire system as one package, so please don’t ask me about the individual pieces. The deal should be sweet enough that if you buy everything you should do just fine listing what you don’t need on eBay yourself. I need this system gone, and I don’t want the process to be long and drawn out.

G4 TOWER:
This system is based around the very reliable PowerMac G4 MMD series tower. This one is a Dual 1.25ghz G4, and is the MMD version without FW800 stock, but I have added two FW800 PCI cards for extremely fast RAID editing configurations (total of three separate FW buses--the stock FW400 and two additional FW800). I have also upgraded RAM to the 2GB max. Stock 120GB HHD, with room for more internal drives (I always edited using external drives).

MONITORS:
I am including two monitors--a 20” Samsung and a 22” Viewsonic monitor, both CRT. They work splendidly as a dual monitor set up, which is almost a necessity for productive post-production workflow.

DVX100 CAMERA:
The other jewel in this crown is the camera--a first incarnation Panasonic AG-DVX100 with the 16:9 anamorphic adapter (AG-LA7200G). The camera has less than 100 hours on the heads. Included is a custom fitted hard case I constructed for shipping and remote location transport. You know what a DVX100 can do (true 24p with excellent CineGamma color), especially with the PanaAna 16:9, so you know this is a fabulous camera to shoot independent film projects or event videography with.

MICS:
Along with the basic hardware are a slew of high quality microphones: a matched pair of Rode NT5’s, a pair of Rode NT2 Shotgun Mics, and an AKG lavalier mic (wired). I’ll throw in some mic mounts as well.

SOFTWARE:
Here is the software included. It was all registered in my company’s name (or mine, or my wife’s), but I will be including all of the manuals and install disks--as well as rights to the company name, web site/domain name and lots of brochures, if you want them!

FCP 4 Academic Edition
DVD Studio Pro 2 Academic Edition
(includes Compressor, LiveType, SoundTrack, CinemaTools, A.Pack, etc.)
Digital Juicer’s Wedding Editor Tool Kit DVD set
Adobe CS Suite
(Illustrator/Photoshop/Acrobat/GoLive) Academic Edition

All “academic versions” listed above are complete, fully functional versions of the titles. BTW, after install and at no extra cost via Software Update, FCP4 becomes FCP4HD.

EXTRAS:

CAMERA SNAKES: Three DVX100 camera snakes (two of them 100 ft. and one 200 ft. in length) which allow you to remotely pan/tilt/zoom any DVX100 or DVX100A camera and monitor camera signals via S-video cables built into the snakes. Included with this set up are two Panasonic B&W high resolution security monitors in order to frame shots remotely, and motorized camera pan/tilt yokes for three tripods. You could literally cover a football field with camera coverage with this set-up, and run every camera yourself!

PVC PIPE CAMERA DOLLY SYSTEM: Using skateboard wheels/bearings, oak plywood, and PVC pipe, I have made a 20 ft. long camera dolly track system. The PVC pipe has cable running through it and the system can literally be set up in less than three minutes. Heavy duty enough to stand on and ride along. I did not fashion a handle for it, however--just used it by gently pushing the camera tripod base itself.

XLR CABLING: I have several 100 ft. high quality XLR cables I will throw in as well.

BELKIN UPS: I just bought a nice rack/tower dual configurable 2500w UPS unit with power conditioning. For live multicamera event shoots, it easily powered three cameras, monitors, and related equipment for extended lengths of time (in case someone tripped over the main power cord!) In the studio, this one unit could handle the draw from all of the equipment listed here (dual CRT monitors, G4 DP 1.25ghz PM, hard drives, an audio monitoring system, etc.) and thereby keep you safe from brown-outs, black-outs, and spikes.

I paid $3800 for the camera and 16:9 adapter, and $1800 for the G4 tower, both of which I bought new. The software was $2000, even at academic pricing. With all I spent on peripheral items like monitors and cabling, I easily have over $10,000 into this set up, not to mention the time involved with constructing the snakes and troubleshooting the whole system. Everything is field-tested.

I am asking $6,000 cash for everything.

Pick up in suburban Chicago at a safe location. Bring a big van!

Thank you,
Bart Boge

Well, I wish I had 6k. If you change your mind about splitting anything up, I would be interested in the Rode shotguns, and maybe the monitors.

pdx,

fyi...several years ago i sold a complete dual g4 editing sytem - g4, dual moniotrs, rgb monitor, nice speakers...alot of stuff...paid well over 7k for everything...was lucky to get 3k.

had a trv900 camera with a lot extras...almost 3k...and got $1300 for it.

my point is, though you feel all of this is worth what you are asking, and it probably is at face value, the re-sell value is much lower. don't expect to get more than 50% of what you paid.

btw, it is a very bad idea to avertise the software you are including. legalities aside, you cannot transfer liscense and i know for a fact if digital juice sees this add, they will be very unpleased. they have been known to prosecute in the past.

take it for what it's worth

Yes, you can. The can ***** and moan all they want, but as long as it is a complete transfer, they can't say boo about it.

Maybe not about the transfer....but I'd be careful about advertising academic software versions for commercial use. Not the best idea.

That also depends on the software. Vegas allows for commercial use of academic software.

Fair enough, but Apple does not allow for commercial use of their academic software(which is what he's selling).

I didn't realize any manufacturer allowed for commercial use of academic software.
Not to hijack the thread, but then what is the limitation on Vegas Academic?
Seems like there would have to be something.

You're right. If Apple doesn't allow it, he should watch it.

As far as I know, Vegas has zero restrictions on their academic software. Maybe someone else knows better?
