The Watchman: 8 minute Director's Cut.

How did you get that 2.4:1 aspect ratio?
I just kept in mind that I was going to crop in post to achieve 2:35:1.
While shooting I just framed each shot with that in the back of my mind. Tricky for the hand held shots but easy enough.

I should have actually taped off the LCD display.
Didn't get around to doing that for my new short either. :)

Excellent

Excellent

I appreciate a short film that is understandable and entertaining. Not to say the piece wasn't smart, I would just like to express my joy from shorts that aren't over analytical. Great character great use of a motif great camera work.

What was this short shot on?

good stuff!

i liked the story and where you went with it.
enjoyed the shot of the shaky hands by the man's side on the driveway. liked that look a lot. the hallway shot was a bit long in that i think once you show the man then show him kill her and be done with it. no need to keep it going. the surprise is in the ending not in whether she is going to die or not. music was good. i thought the killer was good too.

hey how'd you shoot the garbage truck? did you time it just right?

looking foward to your new flick!

Thanks! The hallway scene is my favourite. I was just trying to see if I could build some suspense and keep people guessing without moving the camera for that long. Seems to have worked for most people. I may trim down the bathroom scene beforehand just a tad though.

You'll see more of the killer (Ian Quick) in my next short.

As for the garbage truck, it was shot on a different day. The actors weren't even there. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Mike
