The vibrating adaptor controversy.

Jacotte,

From my experience and in my opinion, I actually agree with you about vibrating adapters - but frankly I can't stand the way you expressed it or anything else I've seen here. Whether you actually have legitimate opinions based on experience as you do seem to have now,or the first rant I saw from you here which showed you hadn't done a bit of research on adapters before you went into a feature, or your rants about DSLR's vs adapters - you're consistently belligerent, make sweeping absurd generalizations, are often ill informed, and generally seem more interested in pissing people off then actually provoking intelligent discussion.

The latter is what this forum provides at its best. Its all too easy for web discussions to descend into nasty spats and we've done a good job of avoiding it here for the most part. It would behoove you to adopt a more reasoned respectful tone and stop acting like you know more than anyone else here. If you did that your input would be appreciated.

At this point, I would like to thank Huy Vu, Joseph Stunzi and Lenilapi for their very useful and informative posts. Huy and Joseph are two of the brightest young men I've ever met. Lenny is a seasoned professional who is generous with his knowledge. These are three people we can all learn from in many ways.

Now you've done it. He's gonna have to change his screen name, again.

Isn't this #4 or 5 in the past year, jujufactory?

What's interesting is that we keep feeding the troll. Not one of his posts has been a legitimate request for or offer of assistance. They're all provocative, straw-man arguments.

And I would like to thank Jeff/Dino for his consistently interesting field work, generous wisdom in praising others, generally being a cool guy and great screen name. Plus he's a damn good cameraman as those of us in the bay area know.

After having some dust and gunk on my LEX GG I took it apart and cleaned it with lens cleaner fluid.

The something strange happened, I can stop down much more before I see grain.

I have no idea what causes that, but I´m quite happy with it.

By the way, there is no hot glue blob on my motor, just that little wight.

Frank

Lenny,

Thank you for your kind words, check is in the mail. I think it's unfair to paint the Letus Extreme in a negative light when so many have had such great results with it. Every DOF adapter has its issues/limitations, even the P+S Pro35. The poster who seems to have a vendetta against vibrating glass adapters had a negative experience, that is a shame.

Letus is a small company trying hard to innovate and has done a lot in its two years of existence. Hien Le has been an absolute pleasure to get to know since I bought our first Ultimate. While other companies have promised a 2/3" relay lens, Letus has delivered two 2/3" models, a 1/2" and a 1/3" model.

Our Ultimates have been extremely popular and well received, most clients come back over and over again. I have rented my Letus B4 Pro 2/3" relay to Extreme owners, including for a six week feature shot with an HPX500. The Extreme and the B4 Pro worked very well and they are happy with the results.

It goes without saying that Philip Bloom has proven the worth of the Letus Extreme and the Ultimate on many beautiful projects. He is also the first to say the video DSLR's are not quite ready for prime time, just as Barry Green and Lenny Levy have shown in more technical testing. This doesn't mean they don't have their place, just as proper video cameras with DOF adapters have theirs, including vibrating glass adapters.

There is nothing controversial, insulting or inflamatory about saying spinning adaptors are more reliable than vibrating adaptors.

How many people on this thread are on the Letus payroll? Just wondering? I know this question will be perceived as inflamatory but at this point I fugure what the hell. I've always been honest about my personal experiences so I won't suggarcoat my remarks or questions just to please the marketing departmlent of this or that company.

I also ask myself how people can be totally objective about their product reviews when companies such as Zakuto and Letus roll out the red carpet for them.

Rest assured my observations are totally personnal and are I'm not trying to please so and so. This said if Letus is willing to send me free stuff I may bend my observations a bit... The same goes for Redrock, Zakuto, and Sony... Good reviews will be done on a first come first serve basis. I would not mind some free tickets to events either.

Of course that is just my opinion... :)

The title of YOUR thread is, "The vibrating adaptor controversy". You've contradicted yourself in the first sentence of response.

I am biased when it comes to Letus, I rent their products. Did I hide this fact at any point?(Read my posts, read my signature.) To accuse me or anybody else of being "on the Letus Payroll" on top of calling a respected member of this forum a jerk is over the top.

everyone's had their say and the thread is here for all to read

... but "slow minded" + "jerk" ='s personal attack
and since there are really no more relevant points to be made on either side ...

Lock down.

In other words, if we can't play nice no point in leaving the thread open when the non-personal points have already been made / debated.
