F3: The Ultimate 10-bit upgrade now built-in!

yes all they mean is you don't have to buy the upgrade - it works without the slog key

But only for bodies purchased new after March 1, 2012? Otherwise you will have to buy the upgrade for 899$?

My F3, with the Pix 240 is crazy clean.
S-Log
RBG 444 recorded as Pros Res HQ
bought used
ET armor
micron dovetail
When I output 1080 h264 for broadcast it stands tall.

I think the best recorder for the F3 is the PIX240. I played with the Bmd HyperDeck Shuttle v2 for a while before selling my F3 and the uncompressed footage was truly amazing, next to ProRes of course.

F3 with the PIX240 was a delight, you could set it up to never have enter the menus, and false colour and the preamps on the PIX are the best in the business.

My PIX now does duties primarily as a monitor for my directors, and it's wicked for that - instant clip review!

Out of curiosity, what codec did most of you guys use with your PIX, and if it was ProRes/QT/MOV and issues with levels, etc.. ?

Primarily ProRes .mov. Once in a while HQ and never LT. Lately, for more flexibility in grading, I would shoot SLog RGB 444 to ProRes 4444 on the Pix. I do find ProRes just a bit on the noisy side so I really try to keep the F3 around ISO 800.

Same for me.

DP'd this whole doc with my "old" F3 and a Samurai in ProRes LT. I would of chosen regular at the minimum but the footage held up just fine in the grade. Granted I shot Cine gamma rather then S-log so the grade wasnt that heavy. When ya have time watch the whole 30 min doc, really interesting story.
