I turned what WOULD have been my westfest entry in a 30 minute short film. Shot on a stock DVX100 with a zero dollar budget( well, I had to buy hats so 40 bucks lol) full movie will be up next week as it is being composed by a local band and they are finishing. My second project since i got my DVX and I am very pleased with the results. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

looks very cool, made me want to watch wish is the purpose right? I would suggest losing the 28 days later song though, kinda played out now....

I had no idea that song was "played out" I just recently got a hold of the soundtrack because I remember the music being really awesome. It isn't used like the Requiem for a dream theme is it? I work at a videostore and hear that thing on some trailer in everyother screener (nothing against the song I love Clint Mansell) Thanks for the compliments though and like i said i have an entirely original soundtrack about to be finished for the project.

hmmm, true - guess it's too late now.

why all the hate on the trailer music? no trailer uses the original music from the film in it. i thought it was effective.

Awesome, kinda has that Last Man Standing, Sukiyaki Western Django kinda vibe to it. Should've shot a feature.

Looks awesome. I don't have any problem with the music in a creative sense, but I would suggest against using it just to avoid copyright issues.

Can't wait to watch the full thing.

What Jason said.

No hating, it's just that when I hear the music I immediately think of another movie and it's not yours. While it sounds cool that can't be what you're going for.

Cheers,

MAH

Nice! Go back and finish the feature man. Take the bj shot out of the trailer, save that for the movie, that's where you want the shock value...

To me it's just THAT music... when I here it I right away recognize it, and it's been used in TONS of trailers... Don't get caught up on that point only though dude, I said I though the trailer was great and I would be interested in watching the full piece. Just don't like the music cause a lot of people have used it before, including a younger me in a trailer from my college years. It's great music, just overused...

Great looking footage, I agree with the others, you should try and stretch this into a feature, keep it short and you are 1/3 of the way there. Looking forward to seeing it :)

Westfest entry turned into 30 minute short film

Westfest entry turned into 30 minute short film

What originally started as a 6 minute short for WESTFEST turned into a 30 minute post-apocalyptic Machete-Western that was shot over the course of 10 days in Cookeville, TN and then composed by a local group of talented musicians. Everyone involved worked for free and the budget was under 50 bucks. Shot on a stock DVX100B, this was my second narrative project. Hope you enjoy and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Will watch it tomorrow (sitting somewhere with no sound on the computer right now). Liked the trailer indeed, so I must see the complete 30 minutes.

I liked it a lot. Slow but mean. Loved the use of the music! The part where the simple melody is played by the blond woman gave me a thrill. That was beautifull.

It sure is dirty in that apocalyptic world. Made me feel as sweating as the characters.
