Hi DVXers.

I'm eager to share with you "The Third Age" my dramatic web series that I've been working on for the past 2 years as DP and writer. Shot using a mix of the DVX100 and HVX200, The Third Age is best described as a magical realist, psychedelic remix of classic mythology. It tells the story of ordinary people who become caught up in a cosmic war when gods fall to Earth.

It's still early on in the project's release, but we've been building an audience, and I'd love to hear what people have to say about the show so far. We were super stoked when Tubefilter.tv reviewed the first 8 episodes and said "This series will be an experience...if you want an acid trip in web video form...curl up, turn down the lights, and enjoy." All of our hard work recognized!!!

I'd really love any and all feedback anybody might have on the project as our team of four has been pouring our heart and soul into this project for quite a while now. New episodes drop every Tuesday and we are already on episode 4. To Check it out click here or visit our official website @ www.thethirdagebegins.com

Thanks everyone,
Jordan

This looks pretty interesting. I like the grainy, edgy feel of the opening scene in the first episode. Congrats on the reviews.

You say you shot this using a mix of DVX and HVX. Are you upresing the DVX stuff to match the HVX?

Hey, I'm the other creator of the show. What we did for the first seven episodes was bring everything down to the DVX size, as that seemed to get the best quality, rather than trying to blow up DVX stuff to HD size frame.

But, after that we switched to editing on a frame that was HVX size, because there was minimal DVX stuff after that. It seems to have worked out pretty well, and makes everything look the best it can. Thanks for the question!

Thanks for the answer! Sounds like that's probably the best way to go about it.

Also, I just caught up through episode 5. I really like the direction it is starting to go. The soundtrack is really great too!

It's not for everyone I guess! But, if you are interested in learning more about the behind the scenes stuff of the series, we've been documenting things pretty thoroughly with tri-weekly production blogs on our official site. You can see them all here: http://thethirdagebegins.com/thirdage/news/

Some discussion of technical stuff, some of writing stuff, hopefully a good mix.
