The things people watch

I don't understand people. And I can't see how any kind of "trickery" can generate nearly 3 million views.

No way David, you're not gonna get 3 million views by posting links in random forums. NO way.

Obamagirl doesn't get that many views and Obamagirl has got one of the finest backsides in the history of the Universe.

I hate when people on youtube get so many views, and the videos are pointless...

The way these things go viral is that tons of people send e-mails, post messages, yadda, yadda, yadda, linking to the video.

You think it's a giant waste of time, and wonder why there are so many views . . . BUT YOU LINKED TO IT AND PEOPLE WATCHED IT.

I don't buy that theory. To generate 3 million views, there's either a refreshbot working or something in the content itself that attracts people. Also, she's got other videos showing her doing stupid stuff like eating a pizza, they also have hundreds of thousands of views. There's something going on here...

The thing about human nature is that we love to discuss what we view in media. In the case of this girl (whom I've heard of more than once), she simply gets views because of threads just like these. I doubt she needs a refreshbot. The very nature of the video, and the comments and reactions to the video explain why she gets so many hits. There's no "trickery" to it.

People are frustrated by how many hits she gets (perhaps at first it was just people wondering what it was about), and the more hits she gets, the more people discuss it in a social setting. Some people were talking about it at my university, showing their frustration, and leading others to be curious. Same thing is happening here. It's not the first time. We see this everywhere in Media.

Many people view things like the simple life or dr. phil just out of hate for the individuals. Yet it's working, and they're getting hits because of this. Just like this girl.

I've heard of her more than once, so I'm not surprised.

I just find it funny that she gets so many hits because people are frustrated by the fact that she gets so many hits. What an endless cycle. It'll just keep getting worse.
