The, "Thank you Jan Crittenden" Thread

I want to personally thank Jan Crittenden for coming to the various Panasonic forums!  Seems at times you get a lot of criticism but at the same time continue to provide us w/ valuable information, promos, etc to benefit the consumer.  I used to work for a Sony DV /DVcam reseller and believe me that their product manager was not as open, especially w/ the pd-150/vx-2000 audio hiss issues.  Lots of HDX100 questions and 2 months to find out the answers.  But based on your history and quote below, that's good enough for me! :D

"Frankly interframe compression, 4:2:2 color space, uncompressed audio, and real 24P will surpass the HDV format any day.  Oh and edit systems that work in the native codec, today.  I think when it all comes out, this will be the hottest camera in the marketplace.  I wish I could tell you all more, but soon it will be clear."

Since you started it, I won't feel so cheesy in saying that Jan is probably doing one of the best jobs at promotion I've experienced to date. I really hope Mother Pana is aware of what and incredible job she does. ;D

She's doing her job, bro. She knows the net is now where buzz is started.

Plus she just may have a soft spot in her heart for filmmakers and codec geeks.

Let me add another voice thanking Jan. She does a great job helping us out, and she deserves much praise.

Re: The, "Thank you Jan Crittenden" Thre

Well, I know she doesn't promote Panasonic gear for fun or the fact that she thinks it's saving the world, but she is one of the few people I've seen be this involved in forums, helpful and forthcoming as she can. The fact that she is aware that going this route is probably the most effective promotion in this period of time is very cool. It also helps her that she's pushing a product line that probably doesn't need as much promotion simply because they give us what we want.

Where are the Sony and JVC folks on these boards? ???

I would also like to thank Jan for browsing the forums and posting helpful and informative replies. Like Braw said, she appears to be working harder than required, and she is doing a great job of it.

Yeah, but what has she done for us today? ::)

I will likely become a Panasonic customer ( more than one camera too) just because of good info flow here. Jan, tell your boss THAT !!

A company that listens to its customers? This really is the end of the world! ;)

Boo quoted me and I just wanted to make a correction:
"Frankly interframe compression,

That really should be Intraframe, which means within the frame. Sometimes I really should slow down a little in my enthusiasm.

Forgive me,

Jan

Even though all your hard work does not necessarily cross the northen border (specials and such), your valuable information and your thoughtful presence is greatly appreciated.

Thank you Jan, :-*

Re: The, "Thank you Jan Crittenden" Thre

Honestly, I was amazed when I heard that reps from Panasonic frequented this (and other boards). I might have expected that from a tiny company but not a big source like Panasonic! It's no wonder they've come out with some industry defining cameras!

Thanks Jan!

thank you Harriet...!!

Re: The, "Thank you Jan Crittenden" Thre

It gets even better than that... a "rep" is a salesperson over a certain territory. Jan is the product line manager for the DVX and SDX camera lines. In other words, she is THE boss for anything and everything that happens in America with the DVX and SDX (and, presumably, the so-called HDX). She's the one who tells the parent company what features we want/need... so yes, having such a direct line to such an influential individual is a blessing! Thank you Jan!

Re: The, "Thank you Jan Crittenden" Thre

Jan, this site and your info and encouragement helped me decide on 2 DVX's for our little production company in our first feature. We're ushering it through the festival process now but already making plans for our next feature, which we hope to shoot in HD. HDV was not the route we wanted to take, so news of this new camera from you guys has been really exciting. Many thanks to you in putting a voice to such a huge company. You are helping build a group of people who will probably be loyal to the Panasonic brand for the duration of their careers. I for one will always be looking to Panasonic for my next camera. Keep up the good work.
