The sun is too white!

I'm still a noob at the DVX(just got it last week) and I went out shooting yesterday with these results. My cousin and I went out there at around 3 in the afternoon when the sun was fully out and we got washed out with white. You can barely see the street, the sky or his skin - it's all washed out in white. Is that something dealing with the light source itself or can I mess with the features on the camera to fix this?

It's your exposure... Use ND filters, and your iris...

Your video is set to private, so can't watch it.

When things are white, it's b/c they are overexposed and are clipping.

Use your zebras as a guide for exposure...

later,
Jason

I keep forgetting about the private setting. It's now public.

Thanks for the tip!

well they answered u...u can also increase shutter speed if u want to cut down overexposure( cut down the light), however it will affect the movement of ur subject (24p shooting) i hardly notice much difference in 60i. (the one time i shot on it :D)

Obviously overexposed as people said, you could employ a 1/2 ND here so you exposure on bottom half would be more on top. Or drop on a polariser and adjust your exposure from there, skies will always look more blue.

Thanks guys! I messed with the ND filter and Iris earlier today and the image looks way, way better. The sky looks slightly bluer but it's still predominantly white - I'll have to mess with a polariser, I guess.

Thanks again guys, I love this board even more.

If you ever have a blown out sky; Andrew Kramer has some awesome tutorials on sky replacement if you have a copy of After Effects. got to videocopilot.net and look in the tutorials section.
