Hey, I'm thinking about purchasing the Oktava MK012 from thesoundroom.com. Are they reputable? Their prices are pretty low and I just want to make sure they aren't too good to be true if you know what I mean.
 
I had a feeling I'd get a response like that. That's cool. Actually, I got the idea from these boards but wanted to make sure that the kits created utilizing this site weren't doing so from theory and not practice if you know what I mean. Better to be an overly cautious newbie than a burned newbie=) However, your post has made me that more confident in the site, thanks Yank.
 
I just bought the bello nero mk012 on friday, I should have it by wed. So far great customer service!!
 
Don't forget to enter the coupon code "DV" without the quotes to get a slight discount (5 or 10 percent, I can't remember). Matt arranged this for us.

If you ordered the Bella Nero, one thing I found with mine that I will share. I ordered mine with the hyper cap. When I received it, I looked at the marking on the side of the cap, and it appeared they sent me the cardioid instead of the hyper, so I called them. It turns out that the little rear lobe loop on the marking doesn't show well on the Bellas. If you look very carefully, it is there, but very hard to see. So when yours arrives, check but don't panic. Oh, and they returned my call in a matter of minutes, and had already researched everything and were able to intelligently discuss my order without me needing to give them all of the information again.

Yes, they are very reputable and provide great customer service.

they are totally reputeable.

i have bought two mk-012's from them.

both black.

one with all three capsules and one with just hypercardioid.

i also got the sabra shockmount as well.

I jjust bought the mic also last week and I can't wait for it to get here.

MattinSTL : I printed out the list of audio equipment that you suggested in the Eveything I know about mics so far thread and i'm just going down the list buying stuff when I get the money and crossing it off. I also just got the G2 wireless set.
 
I got mine last week. I have a ME64 and did some test with the MC012. At one foot from the microphone, for me the results are almost the same, but I do give the MC012 an edge. BTW, the outfit came with an actual chart results for the mic.

I should be asking you that. From all the posts I read of your you might have more gear than me
 
I have some good gear, I'll post a pic soon. I still didn't get my AT shotgun or
boom pole, sigh. I have a guy in town who will let me borrow his boomer but
I hate using other people's stuff on a time constraint.

Silver, you going corporate (weddings, commercials, etc) or short films/features?

I'm doing corporate right now ( Interviews , Weddings, Concerts and things like that ) I've got some music video work coming up so i'm excited about that
