FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

I'm happy to run off a batch and ship them if you want..... but from what I can see postage alone will cost
- US: A$24 (10-18 business days), A$36 (7-12 days) to the US
- UK: A$26.40 (13-25 days), A$41.40 (9-18 days) to the UK....
- About A$100 for 2-3 Day courier.

Outrageous for a sub $0.50 part! At least you would get ePA/CF and a bunch of spares! Or I could send a bunch to the the UK / US and let you guys then distribute locally as the shipping would be the same for 1 or as many as I can stuff into a "Small satchel - 22 x 35.3cm - Up to 500g". Let me know if you are interested.

This is a lovely offer thanks. I already have my screw in rycote mount which served me well previously but if it doesn't play nice on the FX6 I may take you up on that.

FYI - for the std (not long) version, a full print bed yields 16 sets in about about 11 hours and the ePA-CF material cost is only $5. It's the shipping that is the killer, but over 16 sets it is only a couple of bucks ea. No idea what you would do with the other 15 sets however!

...actually, what am I saying. We all spend buckets of $$$ on the cam + bits to rig it out. What's a few tens of $? Ben / Mat - send me a PM and I'll just mail you a mix of std / long adapters to have a play with. Who knows they may be crap, or need a redesign anyway. :)

Printing the adapters also gives me a chance to play with S&Q mode. Currently recording the 3D Printer at 1fps on a 50fps timeline. I had to move off Shutter Angle and manually set a shutter speed (trying 1/100). It is tough to get enough light with these settings even adding another Lamp, using High Base, ... and I'm still at 9DB @ F6. I'll post the video when it is done.

Maybe I'll give them to my sound recordist and he can give one to each operator he works with that has an FX6 if they donate coffee money to your email address or something?

:) no need, but please pass on the extra sets to others that would benefit.

Working in Asia I learnt the concept of "Little out, big in" ---> eg, If can help on stuff like these parts, I add value.... and in return the value for me is actually the input from you guys as professionals in helping a newbie like me on how to improve my skills and techniques to get the best from my FX6.

It's all about sharing what we are good at.... and I have so much to learn from you all about how to be better with a cam. I'm very pleased to have found dvxusers, it looks like a great community.

FYI - I just got a "Media not recognised" on the Zitay CFExpress Type A (to SSD Adapter) with a 1TB ssd in the FX6. I had to reformat on a PC then (to be sure) reformatted again on the FX6. I'll e-mail the supplier and see what the story is.

So here the is S&Q Video @ 1fps of the 3d printer as I change shutter angle from 360 --> 180 --> 90 --> 45 --> 22.5 --> 11.25 degrees (eg 30 sec). All looks pretty bad to me, but it is interesting to see the difference in motion blur and cadence.

As an aside - A better technique for filming 3D prints is like this one where the print head moves out of the way on each layer, the printer pauses, a frame is captured and the cycle repeats. The issue is it really adds a lot of time and only really works for tall prints otherwise the videos are very short (like the print).

I think the issue here is for what you are shooting (and that framing) 1fps is the wrong framerate to do it justice and having a longer shutter speed is making it even harder to see what is going on. Lots of very small movement probably needs more fps unless you framed it from above or something.

Hi jmone,
I'm exactly in the same situation :)
I'm so happy to have found this place. So many thinks to learn from professionals here and unfortunately few to provide :/
If interested I could give some feedbacks regarding the lenses I have (I have a quite big stock as photographer)
There was a question about the bags. I'm waiting for this one
https://www.amazon.fr/Manfrotto-MB-pl-cc-193-bandoulière-appareil/dp/B01HDXG45Q
Normally it just fits with the assembled camera (width and heigh) and it should be possible to add 2 medium lenses + some accessories in the lateral wallets
There are smaller and larger versions
Will put pictures when I get it
Oh yes
As astronomer am. I am very sensitive to the low light performances of the FX6.
I took this picture (sorry for the artistic interest, there are few opportunities due to the lockdown:))
The only interest is one number: 204800

It's a sigle picture from one clip 4K XAVC-I 50p in S-Cinetone mode
70mm - F/2.8 - 1/100s - 204800 ISO (ISO Hi 12800 + 24dB)
(It's visible in full size, just click 2 times on the image)

Would love to see a pic of the bag with the camera in it. Looks a good solution for a fully built cam.

Sure. There are several options in this family (191-192-193-195-197). 193 looks good for a "light" config
(The price is more 150 than 220 euros on internet)
