The show Wildboyz shot on DVX.

Last night, there was a new episode of the MTV show Wildboyz and they showed what camera they use. A DVX 100. I never knew what type of camera they used, but I thought they actually used film for some of the shots! :o

So if anyone wants to see the DVX in action and doing a kick ass job, Wildboyz is on every Sunaday at 10:30 during the sunday stew on MTV but you could probably catch it some other times, MTV does a **** load of re-runs.

That is actually the main reason why I watch that show, well, that and Stevo's antics:P

Im a big fan of people jumping into the water with a great white or dressing up as a zebra and letting lions chase them. :D

wildboyz is a great documentary about two insane men and their romantic excursions together.

i wonder what drugs they use.....cos they are even more unhealthy than anything i ever heard of..... ;)

Based on this thread, I saw the show last night (5/9/04). There are a lot of stupid shows out there, and this is in the running for the stupidest.

That aside, the DVX100 really pulls it's weight as a network camera! Unfortunately, the episode only included outdoor shots. I would have liked to see indoor shots as well. With that said, there was nothing at all about the picture that would suggest anything other than a network level camera was used. Wow, I'm encouraged!

Yeah, they definitely had dvx100's and they were able to get pretty impressive lattitude from them...usually the sky was visibly blue.

Even the reds weren't super pixellated, as they often are in shots I take....I probably just had my chroma levels set too high or something.

Is it shot 24p, 30p, or 60i?

I couldn't tell for sure. I was watching it on the tiny 9" TV in our bedroom hoping my wife wouldn't wake up wanting to know why I was watching such garbage.

Anyway, it did look filmlike much of the time. It never looked video. I'd guess 30p because there's a lot of action in the show-I'm wondering if 24p wouldn't suit the genre. But I just don't know.

Looks like 30p to me, but I don't have magical eyes so I can't tell the difference.

It's well shot though, with less artifacting around the reds than I'd expect. And I think they use stock dvx100's except with a shotgun mic.

i think it's a mix. the bad thing with dvx is, you look at it long enough, you become jaded... ;) ??? :P
i think it's 24p because... 30p still has that video-ness to it.

It is definately 24p, compare it to Viva La Bam right before it (they use PD-150's) and look at the difference. It is 24p.
