I just watched some HD footage from my D5100 on my 55" Sony HDTV and was STILL quite pleased with the image. I'm good for a while yet =)

My wife bought me a 28" 4k UHD monitor for Christmas. In 4k, it's glooooooorious. But... having my Xbox One hooked up to it, there is a noticeable drop in resolution from the monitor's internal up-conversion. It's not bad, but noticeable. It's better than up-rezzed SD on an 720p monitor, but it is a tad soft (which I find puzzling, as it's a straight 4:1 pixel conversion). A 4k scaler might do a better job, but it's nowhere near objectionable enough to warrant dropping $200 for a good one.
