I was very happy to have DP'd this short film, 'The Sheltering Sky'

We used a combination of the GH2 and the 5D mk3 and we're very happy with how they intercut

Hope you enjoy!

Wow! Really beautiful. Well done piece! Mysterious and haunting. The automobile shot at 5:34 is exquisite with the Fall colors. Love the sun flare effect at 5:46, subtle but tasty. I love how the girl is lit in the backseat at 8:02 as seen from outside the car, classic Rembrandt lighting and all the more powerful because she is surrounded by the dark interior of the auto. The really slow and subtle dolly move beginning at 8:10 very much enhances that shot as well. I wish some of the automobile interior shots of her as seen from the front seat would have been opened up just a little more i.e. at 5:48. What did you use to color grade the footage? What kind of rig did you use for the 'outside the car looking in at girl/driver' POV?

Nice nice work. Bravo!

Appreciate the feedback!! The shot at 8:02 was just one of those moments when in between takes, the car was parked just at the right place and at the right time and we just rolled with it. When you mean opened up, you mean at a wider angle? We used primarily colorista and davinci resolve to colour. All car mounted shots were rigged up with a custom vacuum mount from a local rental house. It's one of our favourite things to get!!

Nice! When I say 'opened up' I am referring to 'opening up the shadows with fill'. I am rather a neophyte with shooting video and editing but just love it. I come from a background of commercial still photography which I've been doing for 30 years. I do my video editing with Final Cut Pro 7 and am just in the process of learning Apple Color for color grading. The learning curve seems kind of steep but I'm getting through it with the Apple Pro Training Series manual and lessons. I imagine I will do that with all of the softwares in the Final Cut Studio 3 suite. I've got my work cut out for me, lol. Again, beautifully done piece and the camera movements are really spot on.
