The SGpro footage thread.

alot of people shout for Nikon, but good Canon Glass has a nice, soft yet still sharp quality to them. They look great.

Yeah I agree..

One thing I've been wondering though..

Does the lens have anything to do with noise in the picture?
Cause I feel like when I use my Canon FD 35mm lens I get less noise than when I use mye Nikon 50mm f/2.0 lens..

Am i making any sense?

no, i dont think it matters, Exposure, contrast ration, and color settings determine noise.

Thanks:)

On thing I've also wondered for a long time.. and haven't had the guts to ask cause I feel so "newbish", well anyway! here goes:

People say that the detail level (on a DVX) should always be around -4 when you shoot anything at all.
But I hear some push it up to the + side.
Why is this? Doesn't this make the image softer?
Or is it the other way around... ?

I never really got that..

I used to keep it at -3 but some people went lower and you can go a bit higher. On a DVX going into the + area would be pretty dicey to me though. An HVX is an entirely different story and + settings for detail are common.

You may want to raise it a point or two for a 35mm adapter though.
Do your own tests , but look at a good and large enough monitor.
