As much criticism this guy is getting here (GOOD and bad) we have to admit that he got our attention. Who cares if the script says: "Mumbo Jumbo" "Holly crapolly", the fact IS that his footage (i.e. composition, lighting, color, etc) looks 10X better than a lot of the stuff usually posted here. Oh my gosh, this guy has started a cult! Look at us, we have almost done 4 pages of replies to his posting! AAAaaaahhhh ! ! ! :o

P.S. I am still waiting for the 3rd part of the trilogy... LOL!

In the other hand Mr Hector IS bound to please us with a 3rd part now. WHEN IT WILL BE RELEASED?? Don't be a George Lucas and do something for your fans Hector. WE ARE WAITING FAITHFULLY and high hopes of course!

I'm hoping he reissues his movies with new "special" fx. Hopefully in the rereleases Jonathan will fire first.

Hey Hector J,
I must have viewed this 40-50 times already. My only criticizm is maybe the clip was stopped a few seconds too soon? Jonathan wasn't done. :(
I've enlarged this to full screen, paused, and am amazed on the resolution and how smooth this clip is. The title introduction was a bit long so I kept starting in the middle. I'm still learning the camera settings, and input capture settings to edit.
I understand the lighting with the worklights. The hard lighting looks good for this clip. You already posted a few of the settings but this doesn't look like 24 fps. Do you remember what you recorded at? 60i, 30p, etc? Curious.
The Waters Edge clip was OK but I wasn't impressed with the pixelltion at full screen mode. Maybe captured at lo res to save disk space? I was was more impressed with the actual quality of your footage. Maybe someone else might know what his camera settings may have been and his capture fps and resolution?
Also Hector J, what computer system are you using and editing program? Mac? PC? FC4, Premiere?, AvidX?
More info would be great!

PS. after reviewing the clock in the background, and assuming Jonathan was shot and imported with the same settings, I don't think the screen distorted anything, I have concluded that David thinks he's "normal", I mean "Jonathan".

Interesting that the Water's Edge got mixed up in this conversation. That file was not compressed for full screen viewing because of size considerations for those downloading. Had it been full screen, the file would have been about 300mb. Not an option for downloading for most people. Keep in mind the difference in time also, Hector's movie is no more than 30 seconds long while the WE is 3.5 mins.

As mentioned in my original post, the source footage looks excellent on a plasma TV so the quality of the original footage is not at issue here.

Just clarifying some facts.

I am still interested in which NLE did Hector use to edit his footage. To the previous poster, this is definitely 24P!

The NLE doesn't really matter much, you can do the same thing with them all!

Racerick: the footage is in "24p." It looks smooth because I used a tripod and did not shake the camera.

I did not realize there would be so many posts about my movie. I almost can not believe it. But thank you to everyone. I especially like the poster for it.

It is true that the movie is high quality because I did not compress it too much. The movie "David and Julie" is low quality because I compressed it a lot.

I do have a third movie which is being made. It will be done in some weeks.
