The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

What, that article didn't say DVX2 in it? The camera looks kinda cool, but also kinda like a toy. Looks like it would be fun to use, but not very professional looking.

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

So..when my new 100A gets here - I simply fling it out onto the highway....I don't think so.

Have seen vapor-ware before - scares other manufacturers. You don't want your paying customers (that's us)to stop buying your stuff "in anticipation" of new technology.

I've spent three months on research to get "HERE" - and I am fairly convinced that this "current" hardware will fit the bill for a while...a long while I hope.

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

I am going to keep my DVX for sure. But that camera sounds promissing.
Too bad it uses solid-state flash memory. That is way too expensive. But, as with everything, it will come down.

Men, the more I use digital stuff, the more I love it.

I have worked on film once, and to be honest, I will never work with it again.

All the best

Fidel.

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

Its coming out in 2006 guys.. Dont throw out the DVX100A yet..

Tony, It doesnt say DVX2 .. your correct but it is certainly a prototype of its succesor.

It s just a prototype so you have an idea of whats coming.. Thats all.. Dont freak out! ;D

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

these are very old and not concrete news . . .

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

That is not a replacement for the DVX.. that is going to be more of a replacement for the DVC30. Its thier first HDV camera, but the time that comes out there will probally be a new DVX model out or around the corner.

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

I think it looks stupid. Like Tony said it looks like a toy to me...

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

wow.. if its old news thats news to me.. i realize It has been there since April.. I havent seen or heard of it.. I guess I get dependant on the info I see here.. I think of cmacorder.com as a consumer site.. Never seen it here..

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

Its been mentioned here alot, in fact when they revealed it at NAB in April I was standing right there and took a photo and posted it somewhere.

I totally agree... It looks kinda like a toy, and I have a feeling it will be marketed to consumers.

Remember, that was just a prototype though, and it was made of Balsa that cost more than a Ferrari to "widdle".

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

I hope that Panasonic will continue improving the DVX100a and we will see a version with true 16x9 CCD’s and 50Mbs. :-/

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

There already is one, the SDX900. Actually, there are two, because there's also the SPX800. It's exactly what you describe.

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

after all it is a prototype its looks like a little toy...im sure when panasonic releases an update for the dvx...there will be vast improvements...

hopefully
-An iris ring and not that little one like it is now...
-a true bayonetmount for lenses, detatchable lense

i wish they would inprove upon 16bit audio and make it so we could record 4 tracks on tape with out any issues ....save me some hassel

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

I kinda dig that super 8 handle, ahh…such fond memories.

I also see that there's no built in mic and the focus and zoom controls seem to be servo rather then mechanical. Is it just me, or is that article hinting at the idea that Panasonic is planning to do HD without the mpeg compression? I assume that would be far more feasible once you're not limited to the recording bandwith of a miniDV tape, but either way...they might be smart in not actively pursuing an HDV solution.

To me HDV seems like an evolutionary dead end in digital video.

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

They have not signed on to the HDV spec. They may some day in the future join HDV, or they may continue to develop their own HD standard, or leverage off their existing DVCPRO100HD standard.

Yep... it's got that "designed for Japanese consumers" look that the JVC HDV was actually designed for in the first place.

Re: The Second Coming.. DVX2 is unveiled

a new DVX200, same size as the actual DVX100, with 16:9 chips and DVCPro50, wow, that would be the ticket !

The SDX900 is good, i was impressed, but it is so big...

Once you've enjoyed the lightweight of small camcorder, it"s hard to shoot agin with big shouldercams...

But it shoots in DVCPRO50....
