'The Running Tunnel' Halloween Short

I would have liked to watch your project, but you need to work on the compression. It took forever just to download the opening credits.

not bad, I enjoyed that. One thing that was starting to bug me was the film damage. In my opinion there's to much. Still a great short though, great work!

Hey,

I really enjoyed that short! I like the colors in the film (especially in the tunnel, and towards the end with the three guys). What program did you edit in? If FCP what settings did you use for your filters?

Also, what was your audio set up? I felt the audio was very professional.

Great job.

that was some funny shyt man. i laughed when the deep voice monster dude called and said "I'm coming" and he hangs the phone up and the listener says "Somebody's coming" lmao...

i agree about the film noise in some parts it looked fake or artificial with the black dots. it seemed like overkill. the vertical lines strobing in and out were good though.

how did you stream it through your website? you have a flash server or something?

hazelwould: I edited in FCP. I don't have it front of me right now, but I adjusted the brightness/contrast, proc amp, and added the CGM Aged Film LE filter. For audio, it was just a 140 dollar shotgun mic on a boom, plugged right into the camera.

FilmBoy77: I agree about the film noise. Unfortunately, with a free film filter you don't get the control or options you might find with something a little more professional. Oh well, it was ok for this project but definitely not something i'd use for a short that i'd be entering into festivals or what have you.

As for streaming, it's done through a great site called Vimeo. They offer some pretty good quality flash streaming.

Thanks guys!

That is the theme from Cannibal Holocaust. I love that soundtrack. You also may recognize music from Demons and They Live! Also, the non-movie related T.Rex track.

i love this! watched it about 10 times. You guys really captured a mood, and the dude in the suit with the cigar is hillarious.

Thanks HerzogisGod!

We hope to put together another short featuring the same group of actors...this time a heist film! Stay tuned...

Also, it just so happens that i'm also a big Werner Herzog fan!

Cant wait to see the Heist film :)

Ill tell you what makes this short so good: Besides the overall quirkiness, which I loved, more importantly, you created a very strong "sense of place". David Lynch talks a lot about that. The apartment you filmed had a lot of mystery about it because of your shots, lighting, etc.

And yes, Herzog is one of my favorites :) "Strozek" is easily one of my top 10 favs of all time
