The Rode Blimp System... a quick overview.

I bought mine at dvestore's eBay storefront. They are willing to negotiate and have even gone close to two bills, including shipping.

This is their answer:

Hi thanks for your interest in Rode. While we currently don't have anything in production for the SM9 and mics like it, we have been getting some requests. I don't think we are going to make a custom blimp for those mics, the solution will be more extension oriented. So keep an eye out on our website as I'm sure we'll be addressing this soon. Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Michael Buckley

I'm assuming since it wasn't mentioned, the pistol grip does not come off the mount for just a mount attachment?

Does anybody know if is possible to replace the suspension that comes with this blimp and install a Lyre system inside?

I would think not - the Lyre systems are patented by Rycote and it would be very unlikely that Rycote would do suspensions for a windshield that was trying to copy their older design.

I will second this. There might be a way to "frankenstein" it on your own, but as far as I know, you can't use the lyre system in other non-rycote blimps.

Has anyone had any problems with their Rode Blimp systems not being fully secure? I have the Rode 10' boompole and the 3/8" threaded bolt seems to wobble a bit inside the grip handle as if it isn't 100% secure in there. It hasn't been too horrible it just bothers me that the thing shakes up top if i shake it. Any ideas?
