the right camera for motocross?

im looking in to buying a new camera, im looking for some oppions on what cameras are durable and can handle bing in the dust, dirt, sun, and are still able to preform well.
im looking at vx2000 and 2100's maybe even a hdr-fx1 or a panny dvx-100b.
any segestions will help.

I've heard that panasonic is famous for soldering problems, a lot of bouncing around and all wouldn't be good for it. On the other hand, VXs are built really strong but you won't get the same quality.
 
What do you shoot? No camera will last if you don't treat it right. As long as you treat it like it's your own baby both the DVX and the FX1 will last you a long time.

It's two very different cameras with very different feature sets; decide what feature you need. Is HD important? What about 24p? Do you need the XLR audio connectivity? These factors will come into play more than the ruggedness of the camera.
 
HD is not to big of a factor, i want a camera thats going to able last in the elements and not crap out after a weekend of filming. ill treat it like a baby!LOL! would you say a fx1 would be a good choice if i were to go HD? how would i benfit from the fx1?

I had the FX1 and it's a good camera; produces very vibrant image with an excellent LCD and zoom, focus system. But at the price it's just not competitive with the Canon XH-A1, which I've upgraded to. For an extra $500 I get 24F(p), XLR inputs, extensive image control option, all of which the FX1 lacks. The zoom and focus isn't as good, but the trade off was worth it IMO.

Again, I don't know what is it that you shoot, so 24 fps or XLR might not appeal to you.
 
im stritly shooting motocross. i need a camera that has a good zoom and focus, it sounds like the fx1 has that.
 
The DVX has that as well and it does it better with a true manual zoom and focus ring. But it's SD and it's not native 16:9. So you have to decide whether it's worth the tradeoff.

Another question is who is going to be viewing your footage and how? There's no HD distribution channel available except through broadcast. Do you have other equipments already or are you blowing everything on this camera? The $3500 A1 is definitely the best choice, but the $2600 DVX saves you $900 that can be spent in accessories. Keep in mind how you're distributing the work and whether HD is really a necessary feature.
 
i want to cut a dvd with local riders and rideing spots, theres a lot of small moto shops were i live and would let me sale it in there shops.
this is a tuff choice. and i want it to be the right choice LOL!
 
Have to burn to HD media like HD-DVD or Blu-Ray, which is still new, expensive and few people have them. Or distribute online, which is impractical because of the large file sizes.
