This film isn't finished but its really me jumping out and testing the waters of doing my own filming alone and really everything. All there was were the 2 actors that came with me to do it. One of the actors wrote the script but its really not much of a script and half the time its hard to understand what im getting into. But we shot for one day, I got about 5 scenes and cut together these 3. I played with sound and CC a bit and hopefully got something good. Can anyone help me with any ideas or feedback? Thanks!

skellalee, the audio in car needs some work. When you make your cuts the tone of the road noise changes, really identifying the cut as a change time - does flow.

Try a high pass filter or a rumble filter. Video looks good, maybe I'll watch again later.

As mentioned the audio needs work all around-Since the light is just natural light it seems a bit boring and videoish. The cc at the end is a bit extreme, too much blue. I could be wrong though as I don't know what it is for. That would be my last thing is that I didn't really get it.

the lighting is a little rough - I concur with the audio needing work. The compositions do not feel very dynamic. Try shooting on the barrel length of the zoom and going for more confrontational framing. I also agree with an earlier post that the ending CC is a little too far to the blue spectrum. It may also be the fault of the compression - but the ending portion of the video seems undefined in terms of the staging. There should be more of a flow to the shots. I just think if you make more definitive choices in terms of how you stylize your shots in color correcting it will help take out some of the videoish feel. Keep shooting and keep experimenting.

Thanks for the help so far. These 3 scens dont go together at all. They are in the same film but thats it. They will be far apart from each other and the blue scene is a dream and I wanted it to look dark and blue and flashy and stuff. I thought that the dream scene looked the best out of the 2. Thanks for the feedback so far though, anymore?

the first two scences where ok. they need a little color corection though. the third was really really good. the sound needs some work too. and the link you gave to your rough cut was pretty bad quality. but of course, it's a rough cut. just make sure that when you finish your film find a way to fix that. awesome job over all!

Cant you tell me more about that? Like some tips? What I did was record audio from each actor using a wired lav mic and I went handheld in the car because of lack of room for anything else. I DO OWN A STICKYPOD, I just dont want to ceom from outside in through a windshield. Also what can I do for lighting inside a car as well as where can I get a set of 3 point lighting lights for under 50 bucks? Something cheap that I can use? Please give me a few more tips! Thank you!

I did put color correction on the first 2 scenes on that video. I was going for an old back in the day look thats kinda washed out. I thought the last one was the best IMO especially the color correction i did on it. I just used magic bullet on it all though.

you could always try eBay. i dont know if they have any quality filming equiptment there, but you should look. if you dont find anything there just keep looking online. also check if they have 3 point lighting kits at you local home depot. if not - either you but it ofline or buy it at a store.

As far as the sound, try fairly long crossfade lengths over the cuts, each audio cut fading into the other, this will mask the cuts much better, you can also try noise reduction and noise gating then laying in the car noise in stereo seperately under your centered dialogue, this would produce the best sound in my estimation based on what I see...

I can't really judge the content much since everything is so out of context but the actors seem pretty comfortable and natural for the most part.

As far as CC for the first 2 scenes I would recommend desaturating a little and boosting contrast to take away that video look.

The last scene, if it is some kind of dream sequence, or meant to be extreme, I think it is fine... I thought it was pretty effective.

For cheap methods of lighting a car interior, go to Home Depot and get battery operated flos and some of those circular sticky lights. You can stick these anywhere in the car. This is what I have done in the past and it worked surprisingly well, and at night at that.

Look forward to seeing more. Good luck.
