FS7: The Prime Hunt Is on...

I threw away these Master Primes because of a lack of IS...

Cool. Bc that's what I'm talking about. Wanting IS on primes. Maybe when I said "I don't need it on every lens but it's helpful on some" I could've been more clear?

It's not exactly cool or helpful when folks think their workflow and gear choices are the right ones for every shooter in every situation! And/or belittle questions or discussions because it's not applicable to their individual preference.

Seen quite a bit of that in this thread.

Lighten up. It's a joke, and this thread is a bunch of people with different experiences and working practices talking about what does or doesn't work for them.

There's been a ton of good advice and suggestions in this thread already.

Thanks, Ben, very helpful. I just discovered one at Craigslist for 300€ and pulled the trigger! :-)

the contax 28-85 arrived today. Very good condition. Smooth focus, zoom is a little bit tight.
What I need getting used to: the lens is short at long focal setting and moves out on wide angle.

On a photo test with the a6000 I see clearly CA - but I did not spot it in the first video test.
It has a nice look, neither super sharp nor soft. I will go for more practice.

All my Contax primes have some degree of CA when wide open, even the best in the set. They have a very unique character wide open, but if you stop down a bit they are pretty consistent starting around 5.6.

You will see CA on cine lenses costing many thousands of pounds. Certainly my 28-85 doesn't exhibit it to any particularly great degree. I pretty much leave it wide open all the time.
