The Place Beyond the Pines

...a bunch of this was shot right up the road from where I live...it was a mad house. Girls all over the place watching the shoot!

Saw this tonight. Definitely different then I thought it would be. The trailer does a good job of hiding most of the movie. Lots of tension, and a subject close to my heart. Don't want to say much more about it to avoid spoilers.

Performances were great, camera work was indie at times but I liked that about it...

Well acted but the film really dragged, 3 stories, none of which felt complete and a reliance on coincidence

Lol. It sure it did. It advertised the film as a Ryan Gosling-lead film, almost feeling like Drive the sequel with a bike (I'm a big Drive fan). I watch it and I was surprised, but it's still a great movie. A well-told story and poetic ending. A great film about the importance of fathers, legacies, and choices, etc. I could've done without the lengthy third act. That should've been cut down a bit.

Honestly, I would've made it like Heat. We just follow both guys through the whole movie and have them collide at the end. That would've been more dramatically satisfying. Also, have more of the Luke and Robin bank robbery awesomeness. But, yeah, it's still great. Definitely recommended.
