The Pixel Shift - I've searched everywhere

Hi,
I am new to the forum but I have got a great deal of information from you all and I am almost set on buying the beautiful HVX200 because of all the great things like variable frame rate and p2 functions and maybe HD but this is where I'm a bit indecisive...
I've been trying to read up on pixel shift all over the internet for the past 3 weeks to no avail...I thought the HVX in SD wouldn't pixel shift but I've just remembered that the camera first uses 1080 as the basis for all filming and then records either sd or hd...I want someone to make me get over the impression that pixel shift means fake bits inbetween...you know like it's coloring in parts just to make it bigger...

Q. Is SD pixel shifted
Q. Can you explain in full detail how pixel shift works so I can be happy.

This HVX looks amazing and I'm soo ready to buy in singapore...also is it better to change money when I get to singapore?

Thanks:)

Why would you buy in Singapore?

Is SD pixel shifted? Well, let's answer it this way: the SD image is created from the pixel-shifted 1920x1080 image, downrezzed to SD.

As for reading about pixel shift, about the only paper on the web we've ever found is at:
ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/PBTS/papers/AG-HVX200.CCD-WP.pdf

Hi Sorry if I gave a poor question...Thanks for the good answer...I would go to singapore because it's on the way home and it's £1200 cheaper than in england which is $2400 us...Edited...Sorry I'm getting the DVX now...as I've seen some more professional videographers on youtube doing films in low light plus I will only now be overdrawn less than if I got the HVX...But as soon as I make some money I will purchase a HD system :)

Yeah I've read that over and over trying to get my head around it...I love that HVX so much I've even read the Manual :)

I'm a little surprised by that. My FX1 and XH-A1 perform about as well in low light, as most three 1/3" CCD SD cameras, for shooting SD. There isn't a big difference.

Not too likely. The DVX and PD170 both clock in at about 1280 ISO in interlaced. The best you're gonna get out of an FX1 is about 160, and an XHA1 about 320.
