Mister Hudson,

I have a lot of repect for you sir couldn't agree with you more about moderation of post. This is why I believe that it is critical to be sesitive to both views, and that in order to be a good moderator you have to be somewhat subjective. However you can not assume that it will not turn into a bottle throwing fanzy if some one is indirctely marketing his point of view. If this post (as it apparently has) causes such an stir then the only wise decision would be then to delete it and remind the original poster the purpose of posting footage, which is to get technical feedback on his/her porduction.

Thank you for all you hard work John

Pete

You bring up valid points. Where do we draw the line on subject matter?

The Passion?
End of Days?
Stigmata?

What film/doc/genre/storyline do we throw the hammer down on? Truly. From experience it is always best to watch these types of threads like a hawk. I encourage discussion on the film but have to really watch it as passion inevitably will surface.

There are people with passion and it is under control and persons with passion that whereas it controls them. I see you points Shilo. I just can't think of any good way to fix it other than to overwatch these things like a referee.

What can you do?

I understand and agree that next time this might be the proper course to steer. I'll keep this in mind.

Your a wise man John I really do apreaciate your work in keeping this forum fun, stimulating while at the same time informative.

Thanks a buch, and again I apologize for the lack of respect that I may have shown. Having to deal with such issues isn't easy and I counldn't image having too.

God Bless

Pete

been following this interesting thread, if someone has something religious to discuss, post it in the Cafe section. I think John would be cool with that, or is that not allowed as well?

Or you could choose to discuss it on a religious (i.e. appropriate) website...I hate wading through pages of finger pointing to actually read about the topic on the Subject header. Enough.

:thumbsup:Right on , John. Very diplomatically handled.

I hope people aren't too quick to jump to conclusions regarding moderator's motives for managing threads. None of us have any interest in pushing any personal beliefs and I've personally had issues with posts that I've agreed with--more often than not. We're all interested in a smooth running, friendly, and professional forum and would much rather be following our personal interests and developing content, rather than "moderating".

We like to rely on users to "self-moderate", which means staying away from "hot-button" topics like politics, religion, or sex, and being respectful and courteous of other users. I love a good political or religious discussion, but this just isn't the forum. And only because of some repeatedly bad experiences in the past when we allowed these things to go unchecked.

If you do get pulled over doing 75 in a 40mph zone and wonder why the other guy didn't get pulled over too--maybe it's because you're driving the red Ferrari.

Barry can we move on please, the issue has been put to bed now. My only question is to the orignal poster. It seems to me like he's missing in action hasn't really followed up with any of his technical questions. Barry it's all indirect marketing, you should know this. I'm sure you've see much of it before. Some one throughs a hot post there only to start a debate, as meanwhile they pretend to be interested in technical feedback.

doesn't matter anymore...John has done a great job!

Pete
