FEATURE: The Park - (comedy/mockumentary) - A Matt Sconce Film

Just invested in a Panasonic GH2 DSLR. I have been rocking my GH1 without being able to hdmi out for monitor. Now I can! With better still resolution for vfx plates, faster processor, a much larger pixel count on the chip, more resolved detail, no mud on pans, much higher iso ability with no banding or pattern noise, and a touch screen and more intuitive menu... The world is my oyster! Huzzah! We are still deciding what camera to use on The Park. Due to our microbudget, we may go GH2.

I have had much success with my GH1 and the GH2 gives me more options and versatility than the GH1.. Troy has a AF100 so we already covered there. I have learned a lot about the GH series and believe it is an inexpensive narrative film tool that is worth FAR more than it's price point. The GH2 combined with Cineform's Neo, converted to 4:2:2 is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

What is your reasoning Kholi? I would love to hear it. Congrats also on how Superseeds is coming. It looks great! Matt

Naturally, dependent on situation. If our situation sounds like this "we need to purchase and/or rent a camera that will allow us to shoot on a budget of 15K" then cost is already a big one. Beyond cost, though, from my hands-on I just like the GH-2 image better, although they're probably indistinguishable in most cases.

I've heard/read that AF-100 produces less Moire in real life circumstances, but I didn't see that.

GH-2's also smaller, easier to lock and load, and if you're already recording to second sound then the onboard audio is plenty for reference/sync. Those are the reasons why I chose to use the GH-2 on Superseeds for pick-ups and added scenes.

Others mileage may vary! And, as always, test accordingly.

Now, if you said FS-100? Different story. >:P

Thanks as well, Matt.

Awesome! That is our reasoning as well. Since I already own a TON of accessories, adapters, and lenses for the GH1 it was pretty cost effective to get a GH2 body, and it is very versatile.

Today are our Fresno auditions for The Park. I am expecting 100-300 people to show up. It goes from 10-5 but should be fun!!
