The Panasonic GH3

Andrew Reid is seriously the Ken Rockwell of the video world. All he does is practise bias and rave about the latest shiny thing without substantiating... it infuriates me so much to read his articles.

Eoshd is just another source of information. Maybe you guys should start your own site instead ! Let's see how that works out for you . I'm certain it would become even more highly respected than dpreview ! Anyone who has a website can be defined thus. That's the name of the game. And curiously ...why didn't you say the same thing about 43rumors ?

I don't see how attacking Andrew Reid (or Ken Rockwell for that matter) helps in any way here. Please keep your opinions to yourselves guys, most here are able to discern what 'rumor' implies.

It seems pretty reasonable to expect these rumours to be true. I would also expect the GH3 to be weather sealed as the new high end lenses are weather sealed.

I think you guys have been extremely harsh towards Andrew Reid - the guy has a serious passion for filmmaking and cinematography, and he has a wealth of information to share. Sure he gets opinionated sometimes, but from all the time I've spent reading his blog, the only time he ever became opinionated with a "displeased/upset tone" was in regards to Canon's constant failure to advance or innovate their product line - and so he should have - cause I did, as I'm sure may others did (the 5DMKIII's softness and C300's pricing were the last straw for me) - we just lacked a popular blog/twitter to express it on. I'm glad people like Andrew call-out the big companies. And I'm sure that if you guys took the time to actually read his blog, or his book on Anamorphic lenses, you'd see that he's just another independent filmmaker with a wealth of knowledge to share.

Now, I started this post to allow for discussion in regards to the up and coming GH3 - I'm really hoping the high-bitrate checks out - as well as the rumours about 1080P @ 60FPS, and 720P @ 120FPS. If the Sony A99 is priced like the 5DMKIII (I actually think the A99 will be cheaper than the D800), then I think the GH3 will be a great companion for the BMCC, and make-up for the lack of slow-motion.

From what I've discerned, they have different sources...and the rumors are slightly different as well, but since we're less than a month from photokina, we'll know soon enough( who'll be eating whose shoes...Herzog or Morris ? ) .

Then you dont know the whole story. Once upon a time he was just a member of this forum... Then he.. Well thats off topic.

Heres some spec that are sure to be on a gh 3. 1080 60p 28mbps. Minature mode and all that useless filters.

High bitrate does kind of make sense since the GH1 and GH2 are well known for the quality they have when they are hacked to higher bitrates. Like it or not but Panasonic must know that higher bitrates are something we all want and if they don't give it to us then we will give it to ourselves through a hack. It kind of makes sense that it would be in their best interest to just go ahead and give us what we will do anyway but make it stable.

It can be argued that while the GH# cameras are awesome it was the high bitrate hacking that really put them on the quality map.

I also like andrew . Yeah, he gets opinionated -- but at least you can tell he's passionate and hasn't sold out yet. So many reviewers keep their true thoughts and opinions "in check" so they don't run afoul of the manufacturers; how many times have he shared his negative thoughts and opinion regarding canon (which I totally agree with) ; guess how many times canon and other manufacturers send Andrew their equipment to test???? Rarely -- that's how manufacturer control some reviewers. Keep your reviews "within reason" and you might get some equipment to test for free -- if not, you will get cut off.

When I see reviewers get earlier access to new equipment directly from the manufacturer, I wonder how much I can trust their reviews. Heck, Andrew even "hated"on the fs100 initially before all the firmware changes. To be honest, andrew probably could make more money keeping his mouth in check -- I'm glad he doesn't; in the long run, he will make out better...

Its not his technological knowledge that is being questioned here. If he wasnt such an attention whore and a lousy biased blogger, hed be ok. The onky thhing he needs to do is to separate his opinion with facts. Not stating his opinion as facts.

Did you know he claimed as a fact that gh2 will be global shutter? Did you know how many lies and fantasy he has spinned as truth?

What the hell? So Andrew is now the only guy who has not "sold out"? What the hell? Who are these "sold out" people may I ask?

Andrew is at the bottom of a long list of good reviewers on the internet. He is not even a reviewer per se, just a blogger selling GH2 stuff.
