The Ore

I saw the trailer, and it looked very nice indeed. Even had a slight feel of BROKEN to it.

Good job folks.

What are you doing next now. A feature? Another short?

Ouch. Nothing like Broken, though. I can guarantee ya that! It's actually worth the money, and THEN some after the tutorials and special features.

I just received the DVD yesterday and I must say I'm very impressed. I liked the short a lot. It seemed like it was just the right length to get the story told. The performances were excellent. And as always, the cinematography was very nice indeed.

The fight scene seemed a bit staged (of course its staged. its a movie. but you get my point). And while the CG was pretty to look at, it just seemed mismatched with the live action. Don't get me wrong it was composited very well and from a technical point of view it was great. Its just the graphics weren't realistic enough for my taste. The film looked its best when most of it was in camera. i haven't finished the BTS yet so I'm sure there's some stealthy CG work in some shots that I didn't notice and thats a good thing. But a good number of shots were instantly recognizable as CG backgrounds and it kinda took me out of the story a couple of times.

I must say though that the tendril things were very groovy. My fave effect in the film for sure.

Overall though, its an excellent film. I'm sure I will be watching it over and over more than a few times and drinking it all in. And thank you so much for all the extra BTS information. Definitely a lot of added value. Can't wait for the next one. Sequel? Full length? Hmmmm... Bueller...

....Good job!

....Good job!

I got my DVD just a couple days ago and finally had a chance to run through the film and all the special features. I thought you guys did a great job overall, from story, acting to special effects.....with limited resouces mainly relying on imagination and dedication you pumped out a very cool DVD.

Looking forward to future projects!!!

Finn's charcter was very cool; very beliavable.

I'm very impressed with the whole film. Robert Rodriguez is always preaching 'The technology is right here in our living rooms" and sure enough, right there in Jesse's apartment ....

You guys really have just proved alot with this; the future is wide open.

Check out my review on www.theore.net in the forums section. Finn is DEFINTELY the strongest character of the bunch. He was so on.

In fact, everyone should head on over to the forums, check out some discussions and post a review of your own: http://www.earthfirewindwater.com/ore/forum/

Glad you like Finn so much. Honestly, I think most of that is the acting. He was the weakest character on the page but Ken Lyle brought a ton of energy and emotion to the part. He definitely elevated that character over what it was originally. Something every good actor should do.

HVX straight up.

I may be out of place asking this question (but its purely quizzical):

Have you made a profit yet?

$3000 is a low budget, it seems like it would be possible to make a significant profit.

any money we've made, we've pumped back into the film - in terms of shipping costs and festival submissions. i'm not really sure if we've made "a profit" or not.
