The Olympus E-system thread

Those were some outstanding wildlife photos. What were the circumstances around the racoon photos? By the way after doing much research I am going out with my wife today to buy her the Evolt 510, 2 kit lens and the 35mm macro. Its not an E3 but at $910 for the whole package including 2gig CF card you can't beat it.

Thanks Mark. The raccoon shots were taken in Stanley Park at around 8pm in the lost lagoon area. It seems to be a fairly well populated place for these critters. The first one was a stand off on a trail. The raccoon wanted to get around me but was unsure what I was going to do so he just stood on the trail and watched me. Eventually a couple with a dog forced him to make a choice. The Mother and babies were shot about 100 yards away and were eating some berries on the ground at the tree line. I was cautious with her, not getting too close as I imagined she might get a bit defensive of her babies. The third close up of the raccoon face was shot further on down the trail and that guy was just foraging on the forest floor, you can see the dirt on his nose. The E-510 is a fine choice in my book and yes you can get a good little set-up for a reasonable price. I think your wife will enjoy owning the camera. The 510 may not be the E-3 but it can certainly deliver as good an image as its more expensive brother in everyday shooting.

I was shooting with the 70-300 here and the light was starting to fade so I tried the on board flash to see if it would help
light these guys up a bit. I think it worked out OK.

So I figured these rocks were a permanent sculpture but when the tide rolled in they all fell down!

Sometimes a monster comes to town. I wasn't in cruise ship mode but had to get a couple of this monster machine Being as large as she is I should have treated her with more reverence but I was on my way to the jazz fest...What can I say?

Egpro wrote "excuse me?!"

Rock balancing is all the rage on the seawall of Stanley Park.

Went out today but only got one shot before I had a major "I hate humanity" episode. I Couldn't stand for five more seconds to be anywhere near people, It's a sign that I'm getting burned out and need a break / vacation.

Oc course it may not be burnout, could be minopause...

I had never tried the 70-300mm on the e-500. The orange flower above shot on the 510 this one shot on the 500. 500=8mp, 510=10mp
