The Olympus E-system thread

Hey Larry D...I shoot SHQ jpegs which I convert to HDR in Photomatix and have never tried the raw multiple exposure method though I fully intend to in the future.

To some, an old cone dipped in puddle water makes life worth living

PP....Minor HDR treatment, levels adjust and selective color adjust in PS.

Thanks Matt, I was out on the Hovercraft for 4 hours today shooting a joint training simulation with local police, fire rescue and ambulance service today. The hovercraft got called away for a real distress call. The old DVX and I never had so much fun. The water was a bit choppy and we were almost full speed so you'd be sort of weightless for a second or so going over the swells. When we landed I broke out the Olympus to get a few stills of the craft. Last week I was burning around the city in an ambulance doing 911 code 3 calls. The whole project has been a gas so far!

Geez Louise, that does sound like a lot of fun. I've always wondered what it felt like to be on a hovercraft. Did you happen to get any footage or stills when you were on your way to the call? Or did you pack everything away so it had no chance of getting splashed (what I would have done because I am paranoid about my gear)?

The DVX never stopped rolling, I got two full tapes plus. As soon as the project is done I'll find time to post some footage for you. Once you're out on the water and the doors are closed there is no water anywhere inside the craft, kinda like being in a land/sea based aircraft. Lighting was an issue as it's low light inside and very bright outside so a lot of interior stuff is dark. I should have opened the iris more and blown out the exterior view for better interior stuff...Live and learn it was!:) The only other issue was that there was no room for a tripod so all the stuff is hand held but I found if you sort of flow with it you can get fairly good results. Yes it's bouncy looking but then that's exactly what is was....Bouncy!

Bouncy is fine by me. Bouncy footage from you is the closest I am likely to get to ever being there. So thanks for anything you post.

Once again, it sounds like you had an absolute blast. Man, I gotta get out of WV a weekend and start checking out all these cool things the rest guys get to do.

Mino, thanks for posting this stuff. You may post 5, 6 or 7 pics before anyone makes a comment but I assure you, if they are like me they are really enjoying them and waiting for the next one.

PS the shot of the snow capped mountains...just stunning. Thats a blow-it-up-and-frame-it shot.

Huh. So you can apply HDR in Photomatix with a single image? I thought it absolutely needed to be several images with varying exposures...if thats the case thats great. I dig your HDRs a lot and it makes me want to run some of the photos I have through the Photomatix process....now if I can just get some spare time....ugh...

Mino - Finally got photomatix and was able to do multi-exposure HDRs ... but couldn't figure out how to do it with a single image, as you've mentioned several times. Any chance you can explain how? :)

Thanks
