here's my take on skin tones: I may have a preference, but at the end of the day....

The debate is a bit over exaggerated.

There is nothing in the sub $5,000 that warrants an upgrade from a 5dmkII after 6 years of marketing, unless you need to perform a specific task. I am very surprised that 6years after the revolution, I am considering a 60D. That just blows my mind. Sure there are better cameras, but for the price of a GoPro, I can get a DSLR that has good ergonomics, great battery life, and makes an image you can pass as current on the web. I might even make a better film than using a camera I hate fiddling with, or that has bad battery life. Who knows. Again, the main thing is how many options there are when you stop comparing models or considering them investments, and start applying what you can do with a camera. Even your cellphone camera. Chances are, we don't even need to buy a new camera. And that's my point, the revolution happened. it is gone. That was it. now there are just dozens of incremental changes. Meanwhile, there are some really cool, low cost options for indie and personal film makers, from free to cheap, to borrow that camera your flat mate doesn't ever use.

This video shows, that a carefully used 5d2 easily looks better than a 5d3 under control situations.

Most of what I am focussing on in tho thread, is sub $1k small cameras and all in ones, but Black Magic, external recorders, and other cameras are well worth mentioning, though they get a bit cumbersome for personal film making, and tend to be better suited for indy filming.

Ok, there is a new contender, just for the sheer oddity... the Nikon P900 with an 83x optical zoom.
