FEATURE: The Old Livingston House - A Family Adventure Comedy

Just got word back from the gentleman that is organizing some classic cars to bring in some of our actors for the Red Carpet Event on Saturday. Our lead off car is going to be a 1918 Essex LIMO, that president John F. Kennedy once road in (weather permitting). They have to bring it to our staging area on trailer a because it is a one-of-a-kind and it's top speed is a staggering 37 mph.

Then we have five other classic cars from the 50's and 60's and our last six actors, actresses, and the Writer/Director (Me) will be brought in on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. I hope to get some really cool pictures as they pull up to the historic Marion Twin Theater. Should be a fun time and make all our hard work seem worthwhile.

What a great time!! Our Red Carpet Event at the Marion Twin Theater was a huge success despite threatening rain storms. We were not able to use the classic cars, but used our back up plan of a limo and the Harley-Davidson's worked out wonderfully. We had a great mix of people, bikers, families, kids, and everyone had a good time. It was fantastic to see so many people all smiling and having a good time before and after the showing. We also recovered about a quarter of our budget all in one night.

I would recommend four walling to any low budget feature, we had a great profitable time, got great press, we have an offer to show the movie again at another venue, and possibly a deal to do a commercial for our wonderful sponsor, Harley-Davidson of Ocala. I never planned on doing commercial, but what the heck.

HD of Ocala also is talking about renting a big blow up screen and doing a drive in theater style showing in a big field behind their store.

I believe one great idea I can share is to find a sponsor if you do four wall your movie. They paid for the theater, some advertising, provided a really cool entrance for our main actors and actresses, and sold a bunch of tickets to their customers and associates. I hope to work with them again and have a long lasting friendship also.

Fun stuff, guys.

Four Walling is really interesting. At this point, for people like us, the risk is low and the benefits great. Glad to see someone's experimenting with it and having fun doing it.

Thanks Kholi,

We had a blast, one of the best night outs I've had in a long time, and we made money doing it. What more could you ask for. We also have a bunch of new friends because of it.

I think four walling a small budget film is a great way to let people know what is going on right in their own back yard, let them see that not all movies come from big budget studios.

I met a gentleman at the showing of our movie that had produced a couple of Christan type movies. He asked "what was your budget about four hundred thousand". I told him it was a little less than that. If you have read my earlier post, you know our budget was ten thousand dollars. I don't know if he knows it or not, but that was the best compliment I got all night.

Four walling is great, I would suggest everyone look into it.

This Friday we will be showing our movie The Old Livingston House at Southern Palms RV park. Not exactly where I expected to show it, but my sister works there and set everything up. RV parks are big in this area of Florida and they are expecting about 400 people to attend. It is a free showing and we will be selling DVD afterwords. This worked out pretty well for us when we showed it at a benefit a few weeks ago. We will see how it goes this time.

Friday was a flop, we had about 250 people and made around $100. Oh well, no more RV parks. But you never know until you try.

Azmyth,
Four walling is where you rent out the theater and show you movie. We did very well at our event and had a great time doing it. I think it is a great way to let people know about what you are doing and make some money at the same time. Getting a sponsor to pay for the rental is a great way to keep from losing money in the process.
