FEATURE: The Old Livingston House - A Family Adventure Comedy

Cast and Crew Party

Cast and Crew Party

We are having a cast and crew party tonight at a community center. This will be the first time most of them have seen the entire movie. It should prove to be an interesting evening. We are expecting about 35 people. Unfortunately it has started raining and we are starting in about 3 hours.

Cast Party / we are on the radio

Cast part went great, every one showed up and laughed where they were supposed to laugh. That is a great feeling, well, it is when you do a comedy.

Also one of the songs from the movie has been picked up by clear channel and they are playing it on all 750+ radio stations that they own. (I'm proud of that because I wrote the lyrics for it) Our female lead sings it.

Check out her website http://www.ashleybaker.net You can hear the song here.

If you go the the ircountry icon at the bottom of her site and request her song it would be greatly appreciated because it will move her up in the ratings.

It seems we are in a wait and hold pattern right now. We have submitted to Fort Lauderdale Film Festival and are waiting to hear back from them. It has to be a premier showing to qualify, so we can't show it to anyone other then cast and crew. We have applied to five other festivals also that come after Fort Lauderdale.

I have been working on the DVD menu in DVD architect. I am beginning to figure it out. I am doing a scene selection and outtake reel.

No news from the festivals yet, but we have contacted a local theater owner and they are considering doing a red carpet affair for our movie after the first of the year. Hopefully we will get good news from them soon.

Ashley Baker, our lead female, her song has been number one on ircountry for a couple of weeks now. So if you voted for it, Thank You.

I have started a script for our second movie, it doesn't have a title yet. The Old Livingston House was adapted from one of my novels, so this is the first time I have wrote a movie script without something to go by. We considered doing one of my other novels but I want to use some of the same actors and they don't fit in to the other stories. I have been tossing this story idea around for a while now so I don't believe it will be a difficult task.

in mid centuries it was very difficult to create red color... So everyone who had red in his house was kind a rich.... respected....etc...

First e-mail from a film festival

First e-mail from a film festival

We received our first film festival. It's the biggest one we applied to. Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. it's coming up very soon so I didn't have a whole lot of confidence in getting good news. Here is a copy of the e-mail

I got a kick out of your film. Had it been a short, I would have taken it for sure. But at nearly two hours, I just didn't have a slot for it. If you could get enough 50 people to attend, I may be able to slide it in a late slot...or you could wait till after the Festival for our Sunshine Celluloid slots...we let Fla filmmakers use the theatre for free to screen their films if they guarantee 50 will attend.

Let me know if either option interests you.

25th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (Sept 27 - Nov 11, 2010)

We e-mailed back that 50 was no problem, we want in!

We are in ft. Lauderdale film festival!!!!

We are in ft. Lauderdale film festival!!!!

The Old Livingston House will be premiering at Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival. Our show time is at 10:45 am Sunday, October 24th. I can't believe our little $10,000 feature has made it into such a big festival, but we have. If you are going to be at this festival, come see our movie and stop by and say hello afterwords. I would love to meet other DVXusers, since this movie would not exist without the knowledgeable people on this site.

We just received our second response from another festival.

As part of the Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival(MIFF), I want to congratulate you on the selection of your film to this year's festival on November 12 and 13th. Our judges found your film particularly intriguing. As your film has been selected for this year's MIFF please email us your poster image asap. Thanks again for all your vision and hard work. Congratulations!

Program chairman, MIFF 2010

Looks like The Old Livingston House will be at the Melbourne Independent Film Festival in November, Yeah!!

Saw The Old Livingston House in a real movie theater! Big difference over watching it on TV. We had a good turn out for our premier at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and heard nothing but good comments about our movie afterwords. Now it is on to Melbourne Independent Film Festival Nov 13th. What a rush to see our work on the silver screen.

You are exactly right Dre83. I heard things I never heard before, and I've watched it 100 times on television. Some of my music seemed a bit loud, and two or three times the dead air sound behind my leading lady, (a 17 year old girl) was too loud. I had turned up the sound on her because her voice sometimes did not project well. I will fix these before the next festival.

Actualy mix for theaters, another mix for tv, another mix for headphones, another mix for pc speakers, another mix for car-dvd-players... are all diferent mixes. In theater you can give more dynamic (more power....)
but you can not for pc speakers. It's also your brains and mind and psychologically.

I believe we have our minor sound issues worked out and will be on the BIG screen again Saturday Nov. 13th at the Melbourne Independent Film Festival. It is so cool to see our work on in a theater. I also hope to have a run of 1000 DVD printed in a couple of weeks as a limited addition to give to all the cast and crew, and make some of our money back by selling the rest.

WE WON!!!! We won BEST FILM PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD at Melbourne Independent Film Festival. I was surprised we got in the fist two festivals we entered with a $10,000 feature, but to win an award was unbelievable. We still have some festivals we are waiting to hear from after the first of the year. I have begun the script for our second movie. It's amazing how a trophy can raise your confidence. Thank you MIFF.

Congratulations!

When will DVD's be available for sale to the public? Are you going to distribute/sell them yourself?

We will have DVD's of 'The Old Livingston House' available around the middle of January. If anyone is interested PM me and I will let everyone know when they are in. We have added deleted scenes and outtakes witch makes the entire DVD about 2 1/2 hours. They will be ten dollars plus shipping. One again thanks to everyone on this board, I'm sure I learned something from just about everyone on here.

Here is our trailer once again to anyone who has not seen it. This is a family style adventure comedy.

We have two events coming up shortly for our movie The Old Livingston House. On Jan 23rd we will be showing it twice as a benafit to help a family who's house burned down in December. This will be at the Presbyterian Church in Weisdale, Florida

On Feb. 5 it will play at the Marion Twin in Ocala Florida, this will be a red carpet event with most of the cast will be there, and is being sponsored by Harley Davidson of Ocala.

We will have DVD's for sale at each event. Any one in central Florida come check us out. Tickets are selling fast so PM me if interested. I can't wait to see how these turn out, I will let everyone know.

So far we have been in two film festivals, and won one award. We have entered several more but have not heard back yet.

Our benefit went great!! We raised a lot of money for a good cause and put a few hundred dollars in our pocket too. We showed our movie at 2 and 5 o'clock at a local church, all the ticket and snack sales went to benefit a family who house burnt down in December. After each showing we sold DVD's and T shirts. We also had a local TV station and two newspapers show up and give us some good press.

We are creating a buzz locally and getting back some of our investment while waiting to hear back from film festivals we have entered, This may be a good idea for some other small budget film makers to try to recover some of their expenses. We are going to do this again at a community building in the near future.

Our next showing is a red carpet affair at a local theater. We have arranged for Harley-Davidson of Ocala to sponsor the event, this covered renting the theater and some advertising. It is a 310 seat theater and we are close to selling out already. Harley-Davidson of Ocala has also agreed to bring in our six main actors and actresses on Harley-Davidson motorcycles. This should be a real fun time.
