The Official Manhattan LCD HD Monitor Thread

...which does not work via composite input when fed a regular 480i from the NTSC DVX I had to find out, couldn't fully test the other inputs. It does show the right frame size but other than that just shows noise. When I connect the composite from the DVX to the "Y" connector of the compoNENT input I get a very sharp pic of the same 480 size b&w of course. I do not have any component or hdmi source at hand at the moment, will test asap.

FYI there is no such thing as pixel mapping on an interlaced signal, remember you have two frames, one with even lines and one with odd lines.

Here is the best antiglare you can buy, you can find it on ebay for a good price, and its pretty easy to install. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/..._RJH9U5230GE3E02LECFTDQ8KB7_gvel=0H01CMQK62gl

We might add this as an upgrade to the brightview for the people that dont want glossy screens, but then we are back to the price point of our regular matte finished lcds....

Thanks for the info. But still I think it could be possible, no idea though if it would be useful, as in even sharper, with a SD source. It might double as some kind of underscan-feature on SD cams, that's what I was hoping at least.

Anyway, I think it could be possible since all the pixels have their one and only dedicated position. It's just they're not updated all at the same time with an interlaced source. I was thinking about why it does work instead after the picture is magnified to fit the screen in another mode. The source is still 480i. - Why not just *not* magnify it? That's what i was thinking. I'm sure most people won't run into this with the new cams with hdmi out and stuff, but this is DVX user right? ;)

I guess noone would mind to get an even brighter monitor for the same price as the original one. I was not aware the reason for the brightview to be even lower in price was the glossy screen, "Glossy" wasn't mentioned anywhere. I just thought it was some kind of promotional discount. I see you now updated your signature here with all the facts, that's good. For this target group I think matte finish is very important.

btw Zephyrnoid there is a secret menu on my B model as well via "something" (I forgot) and then 911 on the remote just for info, I didn't dive into it, since I'm not yet sure I will keep the glossy (if the 3M stuff doesn't compare to a factory matte finish)...

we'll see, I'll report back as soon as I have the 3m stuff and my friend's non-brightview model A.

I'll do a shootout as soon as it's bright outside.

In the meantime, people don't worry, these are excellent monitors, I don't wanna stir something here. Goy buy one it's excellent and now all the facts are known i guess.

Its source then 9-1-1... Be very careful it that menu, don’t change the "panel select", however in that menu you can do some serious calibration. The first page has all the RGB gains and cuts for setting gray scale, also can set the intensity of the primaries.

Just recently, we purchased a couple color meters and we are going to be calibrating all of monitors in house to REC 709.

Ill post some RGB histograms later…

very good news johnzo!
So if i order a HD089C, it will be shipped color calibrated, right?
Or you have to do some more tests?
Thanks!

Yes it will come calibrated, I was up to 3:30 am, calibrating 17 monitors last night. I will post some stuff tonight, the software I have is pretty neat.

that's good!
how is the brightness and contrast of the HD089C compared to the ikan 8000HDMI?
(i only had that monitor so...)
Also in the tech specs you wrote 12v and 2A for power...now that's the max, right?
Which is the average REALISTIC power consumption in watt?
Also is the 1:1 enlarged portion of the image moveable or it's fixed upper left corner or center?
Thanks!

Also since i'm trying to choose between the HD089B with brightview and the HD089C,
can you help me with some more info? ;)

Is the brightness of the HD089B brightview much better than the HD089C?
Is the HD089C matte or Glossy? If glossy, is it glossy like the brightview or less?
With the 3M sheet, will the brightview (and the HD089C's if glossy) panel become
as antiglare as the normal HD089B panel?
Which are the power requirements of the HD089B Brightview in watts?
Also when the HD071 will be available?
Any specs to share? Price?
Thanks!!!

About the same, still doing measurments

The HD089C is glossy, same as brightview Hd089B.

Yes, the 3M sheet is very good. FYI sheet eats about 10% of the light output.

Also when the HD071 will be available?
Any specs to share? Price?

Hopefully soon! About 3 weeks. 7.1" (matte) 1024*600, 300 nits, 500:1 contrast, CFL backlight so 80% NTCS color gamut. $599. Its going to be like a mini version of the HD089B.

We have some used / discounted monitors we need to clear out.

HD089C with stuck green pixel on the edge of the LCD, $100 off = $599
HD089B with some stuck rows of pixels on the bottom right, deflently usable, $150 off = $449
HD109A used, excellent shape = $100 off original price = $499

Got my 89A Brightview upgrade last week but didn't get a chance to test it out until today, here are some of my thoughts

1) The monitor now outputs screen information from the XH-A1! Yay. Before it would only do that if your camera is in 720p mode (i.e HVX).
2) I've determined the monitor shows a brighter picture than what is actually captured. After some side by side calibration I was able to get it to look fairly close to the final image brightness wise, but it's clear that the monitor can't quite display fully details in the highlight and shadow areas. There's a fair bit of noise and color smearing in the dark area as well.
3) Color reproduction is decent, not spot on but is fairly close to what the camera captures.
4) It's still tack sharp, very sharp.

Our HD071A is here, I will post pictures over the weekend. Its about 30% smaller than the HD089B. Very cool little monitor.

The HD071A is 1024 x 600, 300 nits, 400:1 contrast.

Hi, I just discovered that my HMC won't output "Focus Assist" via HDMI.
I plan on purchasing the Manhattan LCD, and was wondering if it has a zoom in function (to help insure subject is in focus)

Our HD089B, HD089C, and soon to come HD071A has 1:1 pixel mapping, this feature will provide zoom.

Our HD8400 has zoom in the OSD, up to 300%.

OK, this is my story, I've read about this monitor here at the forums and decided to go for it. Yup, two days later after getting my LCD from them I'm dead in the water cause it wont work. First, the colors got all scrambled up to the point where I could not use it anymore, so I turned it off and restarted and what I got? The LCD lights come up and that's about it. I confess I lost confidence on it. Also some constructive critique: I think the manual should have a better presentation and depth.

I must tell though for all interested in buying, while it worked (6 hrs max) it was one the best monitors for its size that I have ever used, it's very light and looks very professional, has more than enough res for critical focus.

I will keep you all posted on how things develop from here.

I am about to purchase the C version and I'm based in New Zealand. IMporting here could be a very good move as Marshall and Swit monitors retail from 3k-6k here whilst I can a manhattan for around 1500 imported.

Why glossy screen!?
