The Official Manhattan LCD HD Monitor Thread

It's basically zooming into the image (similar to the HVX's focus assist) so you can see the image pixel for pixel.

Thanks, that's what I thought it did....I think this may be one of my next purchases. I'm thinkin about buying some Fluorescent 3200k lighting, a better matte box, and I guess a Manhattan field monitor(with 1:1).

Hd8400?

Hd8400?

Our 1000's series will have over and underscan.

We have HD8400 due by the end of June,

8.4" 1024*768
400 nits
600:1 Contrast
Blue Gun
HDSDI
HDMI
Component
DVI
Voltage Regulator 6-26v, XLR connector
Battery Plates

More specs later

Hey Johnzo,
Will the HD8400 have an S-Video connection?
Do you have an expected price?
How firm is the end of June ready date?

What features will the 1000 series have other than under/overscan?
thanks,
Chuck

I think one major improvement would be to make the 1:1 feature accessible by dedicated button instead of buried in the menu. The time it takes to go through all the menu would make it a less useful feature.

Hi,

I wanted to know how the battery connects to the monitor. Is it stored inside or firmly connected to the monitors back, or is it connected with a little cable and left dangling in the air?

It's just connected with a cable. Most people use a velcro strip or two to hold it.

I didn't realize you had to go through menu's..that's too bad. Is there a button on the remote for this maybe?

End of June is pretty firm, the case is in engineering now, and we are stocking up on the parts now.

I'm still updating the specs, but here you go... http://www.manhattanlcd.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=7007&Show=TechSpecs

These monitor will have two hotkeys, You can program those to whatever you need, i.e. 1:1 pixel mapping

Please ask more questions, or voice your opinion now, we can make last minute case to the case.
Software is already finished.

Our HD8400 has hotkeys, you can program the hotkey to 1:1.

Has the HD089C been dropped as a product? I was very much thinking of waiting on it's release.

I'm glad someone asked. We have still have bugs with the LCD and controller combination we are using, and we decided to abandoned this combination.
However, there is other LCD's we are trying now, and maybe in two months the HD089C will be ready. Here is a list of our current projects and ETA's.
HD8400 8.4" 1024*768 ETA one month
HD8900 8.9" 1280*768 ETA two months
HD7600 7.6" 848*480 OLED, ETA four months
HD071A 7.1" 1024*600 one month, currently switching controllers
HD089C 8.9" 1280*768 two months, programming for NA089

Would I be correct in guessing that the 8900 will be like the 8400, but with higher resolution screen, and a slightly higher price?

Would I also be correct that the 089C will be similar to the 089B, but with higher res screen, and a slightly higher price?

I may wait for the 089C to be released....I need a monitor, but in the mean time I suppose I can live with large clunky monitors, OnLocation, and focus assist on my HVX :)

It's been said enough but I just want to add that I got my 089A monitor today and it is simply AMAZING. Solid build quality, tack sharp and great color rendition. I remembered considering buying a monitor less than a year ago and gave up because I realized that I was going to have to spend at least $2k to get something decent. These monitors are an incredible value for just under $1k.

I'll be in the market for a monitor soon, if I purchase a Letus. The Manhattan is on the short list of affordable options. The local shop is a Marshall dealer but I'm not convinced I need to spend that much for what I need.

What I need: bigger surface on which to focus and frame. I'm using an Ex 1 so the LCD on that is already terrific. Is the Manhattan comparable to the Ex1 screen; in other words, will the image have less resolution and quality on the Mahattan monitor than the EX1 lcd?

Also: will I see all of the LCD features of the camera on the screen; for example, peaking, zebra and the wireframe for the 16:9 image?

Thanks

The Manhattan is way sharper than the EX1's LCD and has a larger viewing area as well.

This might vary from camera to camera, but I do know that for the Canon A1 focus assist will show up on the monitor, but so far I haven't been able to get zebra and peaking to display.

Thanks. I guess I don't understand how this works. Why would the monitor not show everything seen on the camera's LCD?

Does the output from the camera to the monitor carry only the video signal and not the signal needed for peaking, zebra etc?

I think every camera has a different menu option for outputting to monitor, and so far I haven't been able to get my A1 to show the LCD information on the Manhattan. Then again I haven't had a chance to play around with the setup much so it might be possible.

We received the first few 12V battery adapters, available to order. As the adapter represents an addition to the vDoubler family, it is called vDoubler-SPL; SPL stands for the single plate compact size. It comes in Panasonic, Sony, or Canon configurations. It is rated to provide up to 2A at 12V; just as a point of reference the Manhattan LCD HD089 uses about 1.2A. We also tested the adapter with the SWIT S-1070H monitor which uses even less than that. It can be mounted using several options, a special U-bracket is one of them. The small "fuel gauge" smart LED indicates available battery charge. In our tests here we were getting about 3 hours run time while powering a Manhattan monitor with a HVX style battery. Your mileage will vary, a good new brand name battery could do even better than that. At this point we are not shipping outside CONUS, a larger shipment in July or early August will ship worldwide.

Does anyone have any values for calibrating the monitor for the HVX200? I.E. Contrast, RED, BLUE, GREEN, Brightness, etc. I'm Having a hell of time getting the color right. Basically I was attempting to match the color bars on my viewfinder to the image on my Manhattan LCD. I really don't even know if that is how you do it.
