The official "I got my AF100" thread

Call around, Jon. I went through two delayed preorders before I decided to take it into my own hands and found an available one at HB. Comb the thread for retailer names and give them all a jingle.

Got mine yesterday. The excitement fell kinda flat since I shot all last weekend with one. I equate it to peeking at your xmas presents when you were a kid two weeks before xmas. Made for a lame xmas. That said my experience last weekend was great and I'm glad I got it. I'll probably be putting thru it's paces again this weekend.

Got mine

I got mine last Friday Jan. 7th. It was actually in by last Tuesday, but Full Compass forgot to call me. I was number 15 on their list. No regrets, I've only had about 4 hours to play with it so far. That said, it's an amazing camera. I used to shoot 16mm and some 35mm (still own a Mitchell Fries 35mm Camera) and the AF100 brings me back to those days. I will be using my Canon FD lenses this weekend.

Mine arrived this am. Yes, Pelican, it does indeed bring us back to the days of 16mm. After spending several hours with it, so far, I am quite pleased. I only wish I hadn't cheaped out on the Nikon to M4/3 Fotodiox adapter. It works for testing but not real robust. Thank God I hung on to my old Nikkors. My daughter even donated her old but pristine Nikkor 35-70 f2.8 zoom to the cause. The menu is laid out pretty well and the overall build is slightly better than I expected. Yeah, it's time to be a cinematographer again! Never thought I'd see video get there at this price point.

My AF100 arrived today! Picture shows my AF100 outfitted with the Redrock microsupport baseplate, Redrock 12" carbon fiber rods, Redrock V2 Follow Focus, and 35mm Zeiss ZF lens. I'm still waiting on a mattebox and carry case.

Well, maybe you should change your signature then... Welcome DC! Looking forward to seeing what you shoot, and also for your ever-welcome assistance with our Avid users; please share what you learn about working with AVCCAM and Avid, because I think it's gonna be new for a few of our members here.

Hello,

I received my AF100 today from Texas Media Systems. I had ordered it just before Christmas.

Having the HMC-150, the AF100 is very similar. I put my Canon EF 28 - 135 Lens on it with a cheap $30 adapter from Amazon and it works like a charm.

Using manual focus will take some time getting used to but I love the DOF!

Thanks Barry and Jan for the free book coupon. I am sending the card tomorrow.

I can't wait to get the book. I am sure it will be just as good as the one for HMC-150.

Simon
