The official "I got my AF100" thread

Just got a call from Shawn at FullCompass as well. I cannot recommend them highly enough. My camera is being shipped out today as well!

Joe (Zaza) recommended them to me and a big thanks to him as well. I never want to buy gear anywhere else.

Does anyone know how many Full Compass got? I think I am number 5 and 6 on the list...Order placed Sept. 28th paid in full for both.

Shawn is great. Can't wait to buy more gear from him.

Placed my order with Abel Cine on November 28th. I received an e-mail today regarding my order. "The projected shipment is not what we hoped it would be. We have only gotten 40 in this week this far and they haven't let us know how many more are on there way. I do know your deposit was taken kind of late and you aren't in the top delivery of customers. I will definitely update you as soon as I hear more. Have a Happy New Year!

I was totally bummed when I heard the news and after reading all the posts on this forum I knew the chances of getting my camera in the next couple weeks were slim to none. Out of curiosity I popped on ebay and to my surprise I found it, The Panasonic AG-AF100. It was priced as a "buy it now" for $4795. My heart started racing and I couldn't sit still. The thoughts going through my mind, "Is it legit, is it an overseas knock off?" It couldn't be, it's too early in the game for that. I sent the seller a message and to my surprise he was a Panasonic dealer with an extra camera. I couldn't click "Buy it now" fast enough. I had it overnighted and should see it on my doorstep tomorrow.
The crux now? Explain to my wife why our credit card is maxed out with an additional $4795. Well worth it!!!

Update: I called and changed my shipping to 2-day so I will have the camera on Monday. :)

Yes, the AF100 book is rolling off the presses right now. Couldn't get it done in time for it to be included in the box, but Jan has graciously decided to offer it free to every buyer, even those who bought based on pre-orders. So nobody misses out just because they were early adopters!

Yep. In the USA, from authorized USA dealers. Future shipments will have it in the box, but in these early shipments there's a coupon for a free copy. Just fill that out with your serial number and send it in, and you'll get one of the first copies that comes off the presses, totally free.
 
anyone else order through adorama? Ordered today and the salesman said mine should arrive early january..but sounds a little optimistic to me.

That's awsome! How long will they be doing this for? If I order in May, will it still be in there?

Well, even if Panasonic Canada isn't as kind to their pre-order customers I'll still become a customer of yours. Here's to hoping Inter-Cité comes through with a camera next week.

I actually don't know. I haven't been given dates for how long the promotion will run. I would guess it will still be going in May, but only Jan can answer that.

Awesome! The HVX/HPX book has been indispensable and lives in my camera bag so it will always be at hand.
