The nonexisting PL mount lens adapter?

I've been swimming in piles of lens adapters for a while now, but just realized this: no one ever bothered to make a PL lens to Nikon body adapter?

There are adapters out there for every obscure mount, OCT-19, BNCR, T2 etc, but nothing from the most popular cine lens mount to the 2nd most popular DSLR body mount?
If I'm not mistaken it should be perfectly possible, the Nikon flange depth is shorter than PL.
 
From what I understand the flange on Nikon is shallower, but barely. The adapter adds distance as well, especially with such a massive diameter. That's the best I can come up with and I didn't look up numbers to back it.

[edit] On further review there seems to be an 8mm difference, which should be enough, but the diameter must factor in pretty heavily.

focal flange distance is 52mm on PL, 46.5mm on Nikon F, so that's not the problem - and hitting the mirror will be a problem, but not any more than on the canons, I guess - throat is a lot narrower on Nikon F when compared with Canon EF (44mm vs 54mm); I think PL throat is 54mm, so that could be it
