I went into it with high hopes; it was up my alley, and Shane Black wrote it around the time he also wrote Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which I thought was great.

But it was a mess. A good-looking mess, but a mess indeed.

First half/two acts were almost incomprehensible. The underlying plot behind the mystery was silly. Way too much "hey, get it? It's the '70s!" going on.
